Great job, guys! Otsukare!

I was worried Japan would get blanked .... these two will be set for life (as TV announcers/guest commentators). Look at Naoko Takahashi!

Takahashi won gold in a far more popular event. So alas I fear that these two will be set for the next few months at best. But Ayumu Hirano is 15 years old, and Taku Hiraoka is 18 so they have time time to go back for more.

This pushes Japan up to no. 17 in the medal rankings and ahead of Bermuda.

Amazing what passes for a "sport" these days; messing around in the snow = sport?!

bilderberg_2015: You try it....

lol, I turned on the tv and all it said was "news flash" hirano silver and hiraoka bronze. I figured that Shaun White had won the gold. wish they would at least mention the gold winner.

bilderberg_2015: It takes just as much if not more dexterity and endurance than balls, bats and hitting each other. Give it a shot and see if you dont die trying.

i was rooting for white to pull it off, but since he didn't, i'm glad to see the japanese get silver and bronze. well deserved!

Thank god they brought halfpipe snowboarding into the Olympics. By far the funnest sport to watch!

Watched this last night, great work guys. Surprised that White bombed out so bad.

Was a bit disappointed in both the Japanese sportsmanship in not shaking hands/bro hugging/congratulating Ipod immediately after the results were announced, but then I realized that they were only 15 and 18, or around high school age, and that they would be nervous/embarrassed/lack of English to do any more than they did. It look like it all might have been a little too much for them to process on the spot?

Good stuff though!

This pushes Japan up to no. 17 in the medal rankings and ahead of Bermuda.

Bermuda has zero medals, has never gotten a medal at any winter Olympics, and probably never will. The two medals have put Japan just in front of China, Finland, Great Britain, and Ukraine.

Awesome performance from these two young men last night. Nerves of steel.

And the Yolo Podladtchikov laid down was just sick - even more so considering the state of the pipe. A well deserved gold medal for that man.

It was an amazing event to watch last night. They all deserved their medals and congrats to everyone.
