Regardless of whether ya like the fashion or not, you have to appreciate someone with the stones to wear what they want.

Wow, way cooler than my Tony Lamas....

TamaramaNOV. 01, 2012 - 08:04AM JST Ah, yeah. Or maybe it's a bit of irreverent fun and fantasy that causes most people to smile. I'd rather see teenagers doing that than drinking, smoking dope and thinking they are too cool for school.

right on! if people are happy and smiling doing what they love, and not breaking the law, that's all that matters. God for them.

puss "n boots....on a girl ? NICE

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

hey baby, do those boots go all the way up?

If you had to wear a uniform to school all those years what would you do? The kids can't all go to university and dress like salarymen!

This is harmless fun, IMHO. And I love the green hair!

It's not haute couture, nor is it supposed to be. How can you have a problem with kids having some harmless fun in what can be a chrushingly humorless society?

Meh. It's a fashion choice. Not a choice I would make, but a choice nonetheless. It's just like the mohawks, goth, and lolita (and goth lolita with mohawks) fashion choices. They're fads that come and go. Anybody remember bellbottoms and paisley-print shirts? Nehru Jackets? Parachute pants? "Daisy Dukes"? They're all fashion fads that have fallen out of style, but in their day were THE thing to be wearing. It will be interesting to see how many tutus are being worn in Harajuku ten years from now.

People should be able to dress how they want without getting comments like the one you posted.

The girl in the picture can't really hear him.

I wouldn't call it a "style" as much as I'd call it someone being allowed to dress themselves since age 5.

Whacky but jice

I smiled when I saw her picture, and I think that is the aim of it. As long as she enjoys her looks who am I to criticize?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I think she looks kinda cute. Nothing wrong with that

I said it once and I'll say it again - the fashion rules in Japan are notoriously lax.

Harajuku it's always Halloween 24 days a week 365 days a year

The style is immature and people, but then again, a big part of Harajuku attracts teens, so this so-called fashion fits in well with all the over-the-top kawaii nonsense.

Each to their own.

Some cool clothes in harajuku. and, yes, can be mixed and matched in weird ways but that is its attraction. some of the women in Harajuku fashion look just yummy.

Look at the size of that boot! I'd love to see how they'd look on a petite Japanese woman.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with semperfi. The fashion sense of harajuku is just too strange to be called fashion. People that say it's a bit of fun and so on, all I have is one question for you. Would you wear it on an everyday basis yourself let alone go to functions and outing with it.... NO RIGHT so there you go. Saying that NOT ALL of harajuku fashion is bad some of it is pretty cool (the one that is toned down) but most its outrageous and ridiculous. Like a clown got lost in the city and decided to go into Fahion business for themselves. Also Tamarama who says they don't do drugs and alcohol while wearing them tasteless fashion?!? You would be surpriced what kids in Japan get upto behind closed doors.....I know I am a teacher and have busted some kids doing (them Illegal substances) so no just because they dress like clowns it does not mean they have simple clean fun.

-3 ( +6 / -9 )

Tamarama- are you seriously suggesting fashion is an outlet for teens who use it as an alternative to substance abuse? That fashion and substance abuse are mutually exclusive??

-14 ( +5 / -19 )

Amen tamarama, well said. I like Harajuku en especially aoyama. Too bad its always too crowded.

Harajuku style is outrageously tasteless and immature, like 5 years olds playing dressup................................... I suppose if one hasn't grown up this sort of clothes-culture would be attractive.
