Hare today

A rabbit work of art is seen at the recently refurbished Keisei Line Hakubutsukan Dobutsuen Station (Museum Zoo Station) in Ueno, Tokyo. The station opened in 1933 and served as a key stop at Ueno Park until it closed officially in 2004 and was designated a historical building by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government last April. It was refurbished as part of the improvements being made in and around Ueno Park in preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The renovated station includes local works of contemporary art which will be on display during the public viewing period of 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until Feb 24, 2019.

Well if the plan is to frighten children into behaving on the train, mission accomplished.

It's art, not Art.

"Well if the plan is to frighten children into behaving on the train, mission accomplished"

I don't see anything scary about it. It's a giant hare diving into ground. Kids generally have great imaginations and love that kind of thing.

It's a giant hare smashing into the ground with wide, blank white eyes. Yeah, nothing scary about that...

And the more I look at it, the more it looks like the giant rabbit fell, hit the ground and died. Yeesh.

Reminds me of that animated movie of Watership Down that gave me nightmares as a kid. The eyeball is what does it!

Whoever thought up, designed and executed this monstrosity needs professional help and counselling.

"Kids, welcome to the Zoo"?? We've got the winner for "The most distastful and plain stupid thing in Tokyo that somebody calls art" award.

Love it. It's not that scary. More Monty Python than, say, HR Giger.

More Monty Python

Mr. Praline: I'll tell you what's wrong with it, my lad. 'E's dead, that's what's wrong with it!

Owner: No, no, 'e's uh,...he's resting.

Mr. Praline: Look, matey, I know a dead rabbit when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now.
