is the man in the background allowed to ignore the emperor, or is he a bodyguard?

Doctor also has a bodyguard (extreme left looking away from the emperor) ? Good luck and wishing him quick recovery.

TimeiClic - i believe the Imperial Household Agency is sending the Emperor to the Hospital early as a preventative measure.

Gat damn! U of Tokyo Hospital doctors greet the patients upon their arrival! Cripes, I never see my doctor until after I've been waiting anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half after I arrive. I think I'll change to U of Tokyo Hospital!

http://danieldiaztecles.blogspot.com/ I hope everything goes well. Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko are now very close to the people, for me, are a great monarchy. The background seems a cop.

It's better to address a partially blocked artery than to wait until it is completely blocked and kills off a spot on the heart.

emperor akihito is again showing his pluck, the bride who's hand he fought hard to secure at his side and an elegant yet palpable a presence as ever. entering a hospital for surgery is no laughing matter. an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, as the saying goes. better to get this surgery now, no need to wait for some sort of physical manifestation of the condition. i'm sure these doctor's will apply the state of the art treatment in an appropriate manner.

I think I'll change to U of Tokyo Hospital!

you are not VIP,. And anyway, this reception i quite modest for an emperor, I expected nurses meeting him with flowers.

He is a doctor who popped outside for a smoke and can of coffee.
