Good for them.
You rarely see that kind of civic responsibility and community volunteerism among youth in other countries. And please, I don't care if the neighborhood J-kids around your block are lazy deadbeats.

I remember the earthquake of 1971 here in Cali. We could look up and see the sky from inside the house. Dad was knocked unconscious, Mom was traumatized and couldn't speak a word for two days. A neighbor down the block was killed in an aftershock by a falling brick. Most of the casualties happened at a hospital in the mountains.

Nothing in the extended photo caption indicates that the girls organized this. I'm sure it's an official school activity.
