Slightly cooler air backing into Kanto area from the northeast today. Not sure why. Not reaching the Gifu- Kyoto area however. Not yet anyway.
I'll go out on a limb and say the heat wave has maxed out. That doesn't mean pleasant, just a few degrees down on the way.

I can't tell you how widely I was smiling this morning as I started packing for my upcoming trip. Packing jeans and sweatshirts. The day I arrive the high is to be 21, the low 13.
Walking off that plane I'm going yell out: "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

I never find the sun all that intense in Japan - it is the suffocating all round heat. Drink lots of cold drinks like tea.

Me too. I grew up in places where the sun is way more intense. You can feel it burning when it lands on your skin. In Japan I find the heat much more oppressive though due to the humidity - even in an air conditioned room I still will sweat sometimes from the humidity.
