Sacred dancing has its root in Japanese ancient myth of Ame-no-Uzume, Goddess of Dancing. The story goes that when Sun-Goddess hid herself in a rock cave due to a series of violence caused by her brother, Storm-God, the entire world lost light and become dark. So God of Wisdom came up with an idea to bring back Sun-Goddess to the world. His idea was to have a cerebration using Goddess of Dance in front of the rock cave where Sun-Goddess hid herself. Wondering what's going on outside, Sun Goddess moved a rock to peek the outside. Other gods did not miss the chance and moved away the rock and took her outside, thereby restoring light to the world.
