Ichiro beats Oh's run record

Congratulations to Ichiro. I'm still hoping he can reach 3k hits in the majors. If not, he has still put together a Hall-worthy portfolio.

Congrats to Ichiro.... he's 41 now but it would not surprise me at all if he played another four or more years and continued to perform well.

On a talk show today on Japanese TV (Akko ni makasei) Wada Akiko made the comment that Ichiro's "record" was, (paraphrasing here) more due to "other" people driving him in vs his "own" power, unlike Oh who hit more homeruns thus his "record" is more impressive because "he" did it on his own, for the most part.

She really is an idiot sometimes.

Well she would be right, if only Oh had done it in the majors... and was actually Japanese himself.

Great! Every time he singles into outfield and such, I'm always impressed with his skillful batting. Not only that, his sharp fielding and speedy base running are always very spectacular. He is real a prodigy in terms of baseball. Yes, there is more to baseball than just home runs. My hat goes off to Ichiro.
