If I got one. I would have to

A: Wait for the 2nd -3rd gen

B: Sell my iTouch

If not, what is the point other than making Apple more rich, and myself more poor for no reason?

Wish I had one! I'm still figuring out my iPhone and iMac, though.

In spite of all of this talk of sheep and lemmings, in the end is there really, honestly anything wrong with wanting to try the newest tech toys out for ourselves?

It's funny that people are making comments about lemmings, sheep, or how they'd never buy it. It sold over a million units in America already. Who are the sheep?

Kind of that how Apple users and Apple themselves never belittle "PC" users buying a something with windows on it.

"They do it so, I can too". Funny that in 6 years of being a mac user, I've never met one of these strawman Apple elitist that everyone complains about.

Love my iMac, iMacbook, & iPhone, they work like a dream after all the kinks are fixed months after their release, but can't really see a reason to buy this unless you wanna be that trendy guy sitting in starbucks checking your facebook status to try and show off your expensive paperweight.

but why waste time belittling people who have the money and the desire to purchase them?

What's up with all of the hate on this site for Apple/Apple products? If you don't like them, or don't feel that they are worth the money, then you of course have the right not to buy them, but why waste time belittling people who have the money and the desire to purchase them?

how many ipad photos on this site? ... maybe someone is in the queue.

iPad. Never mind the feminine hygiene product joke! With its price and lack of functionality, it definitely not fit what I want. On top of that, you cannot run anything that is not blessed by Apple. I still prefer a laptop as I can do anything I feel like with it and it is multitasking which iPad is not.

Do they still pay people to stand in these lines?

My first thought was "Lemmings leaping off a cliff"

tkoind2....I don`t think Japan is the only trendy country. Every country is the same way including the US. There were people camping out for days when the iPad was released in the US and I have been to places in the US where people waited in line for 4 hours for Krispy Kream doughnuts.

I agree though that your smarter to wait for the 2nd or 3rd generation to come out.

WOW new technology - its fantastic here in the UK we know that the japanese are an industious and busy people committed to innovation and modern technology - here in the uk we think its great. We here her majesty the Queen of England, her royal highness - HRH Prince Charles prince of wales, HRH Princes Andrew Count of Wessex -and his 2 daughters pricesses beatrice and Eugenie are visiting a private residence in tokyo today and that she flew in in the early hours- a special favourite, is it true this person lives in a castle central tokyo? We love our Queen and the royal family

Since all Apple products are very attractive.

that somehow remind me of the "hockey puck" mouse!

from the first time i see it, my wrist and my hand screamed at me "don't touch it"!!! and when i have to use it for real, it did proof that it not only ugly but it can hurt so bad too.

I guess Ipads will be the new Krispy Kreams for Tokyo. Massive lines of people waiting for things they could do without. This is one trendy country.

Note to self. Think of great item that can start the next big spending trend in Japan. Then retire.

This is probably the least attractive device Apple has put out, ever.

Since all Apple products are very attractive you probably means that the ipad is only...attractive !

I have to talk myself out of buying one every week. I can think of a hundred reasons why to buy one, and another hundred why I dont need it. I have a net book, 2 laptops, and two Iphones. I guess Im going to give in shortly because Schorche has a car kit to mount in in place of your radio. With the nav, and the 3g connection I think this would be the best media center in a car for the price.

Just a heads up, you dont have to spend extra for a 3g if you have a Iphone. Just jailbreak it with spirit, get myfi from the cydia repo, and use your Iphone for a wifi hotspot. This way you use just the one data pakage from you Iphone, and you can connect with any other wifi enabled device.

I'm with chotto...what a bunch of clowns! Honestly speaking, I'm looking forward to get one but not the 1st gen, wait till they come up with the 2nd or 3rd gen at least. It'll get way better then.
