American actress Meryl Streep, left, and British director Phyllida Lloyd pose after cracking open a barrel of sake at the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo Wednesday during an event to promote their film, "The Iron Lady." Streep, 62, won her third Academy Award for her portrayal of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The actress, making her 5th visit to Japan, said it was a challenge for her, as an outsider, to play a real person who is still both loved and reviled in equal measure in Britain. Asked by a Japanese reporter if she had picked up any tips playing Thatcher that she could give to Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda, Streep -- who has won three Oscars and eight Golden Globes -- said with a laugh, "If Prime Minister Noda needs acting advice, he can come to me."
"The Iron Lady" opens in Japan on march 16.

I think I'll pass. The greatest-film-critic-ever and pulitzer-prize winning Roger Ebert stated of this film, "You have to be very talented to work with Meryl Streep. It also helps to know how to use her. "The Iron Lady" fails in both of these categories." He did however praise her performance...

I have heard it's a marvelous film - can't wait to see it! Even better that the conservatives don't like the portrayal of their hero one bit - suffer in ya jocks!

Streep's portrayal of Margaret Thatcher is exceptional. The iron lady indeed! Reminds me of when the press interviewed her husband and one reporter asked who wore the pants in the house. He answered that he did but he also ironed them.
