I'm no fan of K-pop, but most of them can actually sing and dance quite well. Some of their choreography (men as well), is pretty up there.

"Flattering" and "Flattening" are not the same thing...

The costumes could be better, on such a lovely group of girls...

Excellent!

what a beautiful way to start the day. they look great, wonderful, full of joy.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

For K-Pop t and a, Kara beats them hands down.

Gee, they are the best. Always wanting me to go up and dance and bringing smiles to my face.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The third girl from the right... there is a very distinct line running down the side of her face. Is that makeup?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They should be on 24 hour tv now for charity.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Thigh high stiletto boots and vinyl hot pants on a bunch of nubile cuties always makes my day.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

They look far too skinny to be healthy. We should send some rice over to Korea in aid.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

@seriouslycreamy - no it's very poor stage lighting - you'll see the same "shadow line" effect on some of the girls legs.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Reminds me of the AV awards in Vegas... I am dead serious.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

hope they can go on forever..

This stuff is just a cross between pop crap music & stripping rolled into one.

They shud decide which they wanna do & then do it, this stuff is all half a$$ed

2 ( +3 / -1 )

agree GW.

And seriously JT - do you not have any other photos other than K-pop girls? The Kara girls were on photo of the day a while back, and now these girls.. ? Not even a J-pop one?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Nice photo for the morning coffee.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Isn't Soo-Young the only one that the Japanese actually have any affection for? she looks like a homegirl and she is the only one in the group who had this project going on in Japan before SNSD.

Look, we are only trying to take a wee break from all the Tomomi Itano PR saturation that's going on still. Also these ladies look 'legal' and are pin-up material as opposed to most J-pop products that try to awaken your jail bait fetish and is best that no-one knows that you are a fan, that just ain't healthy in the long run.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

the J-pop girls look like juniou high girls compare to K-Pop. Personally I like T-ara better than girls generation.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Certainly as a guy, when you follow these K-pop girl groups unlike J-pop, there is no 'guilt' to it. They are great healthy looking girls whom you want to hang out with if you ever had the chance. On the other hand J-pop girl bands are mainly about CUTE GIRLS DOING CUTE THINGS where one extreme lies with Tomomi Itano who looks like a 12-year old with one too many plastic surgeries. Even 20 somethings from 'Perfume' are forced to look and sing like young teenagers. There is no way a man in the right mind should be attracted to that kind of stuff.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

zzzzzzz....zzzzzzz.....zzzzzz.......

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Nice to see some decent strippers on a news site. I.e. is this boring VANK/Dentsu campaign for Korean popularity still going on? ZZZZ .. ZZZZZ ... ZZZZZ

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

They look far too skinny to be healthy. We should send some rice over to Korea in aid.

Far too skinny? Their popularity with horny old Japanese guys confirms that your opinion is the minority. They look beautiful and very healthy... the girls that is, not the old Japanese guys. They certainly look far more attractive and healthy than the plumpers that the gutter press try to pass off as "attractive" these days.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

A more appropriate name for them would be Plastic Surgery Generation (seikei jidai).

I'm no fan of K-pop, but most of them can actually sing and dance quite well.

From the resident cheerleader of anything Korean on this website, that was a predictable comment from you.

It cant get any more spot on than this. It is so weird to be a fan of some Japanese celebrities because of the types of work they release (gravure anyone?) and just the fact they try to look way too young and it is just awkward. (When I found out Tomomi Itano was 20 (21?) and the ages of AKB I was so confused/grossed out/confused again). Whats with the whole lolita look direction their agency has going on? I love the solo artists like Namie and Kumi but if I was a fan of AKB48 or any other such 'band; I would certainly never show it. Especially if you are outside of Japan.

Yeah and AKB48 can be AKB48 botched surgery jobs

What planet is this?

Ooh, someone's feelings got hurt. Nah, they're natural compared to your surgically altered K-stars. Can't you see their teeth? You must be blind.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Lot a booties, man, I'm seeing a whole lotta booties bein' shaken here - and they're knee-high!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

They can dance on my table anytime i think they are greatxx

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How do you say "pakuri" in English? Same as Chinese Koreans have copied many culture from Japan for over decades. These are the examples Koreans have ill-intentionally copied from Japanese culture besides this K-POP case.

Korean cannot create original entertainment & pop-culture in real.

@my2sense

Reminds me of the AV awards in Vegas... I am dead serious.

Funny, I was just thinking the same exact thing!

And since everyone is talking about their looks, let's get one thing straight, they look hot, make No mistake about it (minus the the ones with the altered Nose jobs) and since most people are commenting about their looks, then that should clear up ANY confusion about what their real talent is and sadly, singing is NOT one of them.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Korea has the best idol groups. They are all hot and pretty good singers. Unfortunately, no J-groups are even close anymore.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

These chicks is like KFC. Carefully marketed to the dumb and bored, all skin and bone, good at the time but no substance what so ever and finally gonna get chucked in the bin with yesterdays kleenex. Still, sometimes ya need KFC.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Faces are nice. But the rest...is it the outfits or what, ahem, isn't filling them?

Booty? Where?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

What different of k-pop from USA culture?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

OK, K-pop is great. But I like listening to SNSD sing Genie in Japanese than Korean. And if possible, I hope BEAST will sing "On Rainy Days" in Japanese too. "jogeumsshik geuchyeogagettji" sounds a bit harsh to my ear.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

This stuff is mostly a cross between pedo & porn, little if anything to do with music.

Hey I like good looking women MORE than the next guy but this stuff creeps me out & its getting worse day by day

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

J-pop is getting behind k-pop because the most of the j-pop music is still heavily influenced in old music while k-music is more tending to have influences from the East, also the girl bands look to be more oriented to teen audiences than bands like Morning Musume, the cute girl look works better on little girls and old pervert men, the sexy girl look works fine on everyone...

@GWAug. 21, 2011 - 11:55PM JST

respect! +5!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Some of the girls are attractive, but this is meh for me. Skintight and glitter =/= sexiness in my book. Just looks bad and gaudy in my opinion.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ooh, someone's feelings got hurt. Nah, they're natural compared to your surgically altered K-stars. Can't you see their teeth? You must be blind.

They cant afford dental care but they invest in surgically enhancing their features. Just look at Tomomi Itano.

Ok as the resident Kpop girl band expert of JT, let me explain few things. Not all K girlbands are equal. SNSD aka Girls' Generation are pretty much the top group in Korea. They are much more popular than Kara ever was.. Primarily bc these girls can actually sing and dance very well. They're manufactured but they have talent and hold their own musically. Kara are more the cutesy, visual group comparable to the AKB look but they are not known for their live singing or dancing. They were popular but no one expected them to take off like they have in Japan. But then again there is a long track record of unpopular or anonymous 'celebs' failing in Korea but becoming big in Japan and getting attention in Korea bc of their Japanese success: Bae Yongjoon, Infinite... etc.. Also the plastic surgery thing. Yes, it's rampant in Korean entertainment industry but not any more than Japanese entertainment industry or the US entertainment industry. On top of that Korean netizens will dig up any and all childhood photos and document every little nick, lift and change. There's about 3 girls in SNSD who are untouched from their childhood pictures imo.

Third from the left: where is her waist? First, second and fifth from left: where are their butts?

I mean, if this is your taste, fine. But you must also get excited when you pass tree trunks, because I see about as much shape here.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

melonbarmonster you are an example of the creeping me out bit, unless yr 12yrs old yr paying way to much attention to this crap!

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Sekushiiii ^_^

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Collectively they would struggle to fill a real C cup. They are built like little school kids. Who finds that attractive?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Reminds me of the original USA TV series "Charlies Angels" for some reason.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

These girl's are beautiful. While their music is still crap they blow AKB48 and just about any other J-pop group out of the water in the looks department.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

K-pop is not only about how they move their exposed legs (though you may become "kuseninaruwa") but how they sing. Their strong and emotive vocalism and the way they sing Japanese lyrics on K-pop music (esp. ballads) are refreshing. Utada or Fujiwara Motoo (Bump of Chicken) don't sing that way.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

K pop group AFTER SCHOOL beats both Girls Generation AND Kara in looks by far. And yes, all the K-pop girl groups blow away AKB, but not really hard to do that anyway.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Remind me of meat on store shelf. Sorry.
