in front of Kaminarimon Gate? yeah,to appease God and ask for business favors. Its nice for me but hope it doesn't anger divine spirits.

Sometimes I don't understand these Japanese. Where do they draw the line between religion and social life?
mitoguitarman
Now that is something the gods can understand!

The Lockettes!!!

They also do the Samba Festival in front of the Kaminari-mon. A lot of half-nacked mamas parading around is something to behold :).

those beauties have really great legs

Maybe some of you haven't been to Sensoji. Behind that gate, leading up to the temple is Nakamise Dori, 250 meters of about 90 shops. Commerce and religion have always co-existed in Japan.

if i were a god, i would be very pleased with those beauties merry making at my gates

Looks like they are dancing to Spitz.

Takarazuka Revue has surely been a fascinating subject of Japanese society of the 20th century and has occupied an important place in Japanese pop culture. If you ever get a chance, go it's really is worth it. It's an excellent show, very entertaining and colorful. They have a wide variety of program genres with colorful costumes, bright makeup and spectacular stage productions.

Ouch! It makes my hamstrings hurt just looking at this picture.

Interesting contrast between gawdy cabaret and ancient shrine gates, but whatever floats your boat.

I think I need to perform some sent tests before I allow them to leave. Right ladies, assume the position... "Oh!! You are already" :)

mitoguitarman is right. When Amaterasu the Sun Goddess hid herself in a cave after a spat with her brother Susanoo and the world went dark as a result, it was the God of Merriment, Ame-no-Uzume, who lured her out by performing a lewd dance naked on an upturned washtub.
So if these pretty ladies are dancing in hopes of turning the world's fortunes round and making a brighter day for all, they're wearing far too many clothes. :-)
Religion isn't all about sobriety and no one having any fun.

For those that are interested there is also a Shochiku Kageki-dan display on at the Shitamachi museum which near Ueno station in Taito-ku. The display includes a lot of items from the last century, outfits, programs, pictures etc.

These are the kinds of photos that people get arrested for.

This would be a great picture if someone moved the grandmas off to the side, or even replaced them with women at cougar age or preferably below.

Behind the buddha. Are they mad? HONTONI BAKA DESU.

I was ready to get bent out of shape over this, but then I remembered that Senso-ji has been there for more than 1,000 years, and Yoshiwara was close by for a good portion of that time.

A long line of luxurious lifted legs?

Why would Buddha be insulted by pretty dancing ladies? And where in Buddhist teachings does it say that Buddha sends down natural disasters to punish the 'wicked'? This isn't the Old Testament.

This is a PR for STAS REVUE FANTASY 2011 which will be held on the 28th and 29th at Asakusa Hall. There's nothing wrong with this line dance.
