"Let's create a Japan where women can shine...wearing kimono, looking pretty and making tea for us old men. AND we pledge to have 7 percent women in leadership roles by 2030!! I present to you...Womenomics in action!" - Shinzo Abe

Just wanted to reiterate from Burakamin again. I think the picture and this quote kind of basically sum it all up nicely.

They look nice in their kimono. I like the one on the left best.

what's with the japanese prime minister always taking pictures with japanese beauty queens? reminds me of putin trying all the time to show off how "strong" he is. no need to brag, if you really have it.

Best Kimonoist?

Whatever happened to those wonderful titles?

Beautiful kimonos ! My wife's grandmother worked for many years in the Arimatsu section of Nagoya making kimonos. As a result, my wife had about three "tansu" (dressers) filled with kimonos. They were gorgeous ! Some being made in different parts of Japan. I agree with Meiyouwenti. Really like this pic, thanks, JT !

JT could have chosen a picture w/o Abe, so we have to see this as an intentional promotion photo.

What is important in a traditional form of dress is the woman who is wearing it.

I'll take today's Kimono Queens. They look great!

What does this have to do with abe's ridiculous economic plans? 3 Pretty girls who WANTED to put on their Kimonos and CHOSE to compete in some sort of event to be recognized. No one told them to quit college and model Kimonos. Western Feminism is toxic.

Why does Abe always have that Unfazed and wisecrack look in his pictures?
