One of the ugliest vehicles I've seen in decades.

I would say the ugliest in the history of automobiles . . .

Looks like a 3D model from a 90s PC game.

Nice mag wheels , the shape looks like something Goofy would drive !

Is the strategically placed scoop for vacuuming up pedestrians and small animals?

The body reminds me of Volkswagen's old  Karmann Ghia (1955-74)...

For a second I thought it must be another Mitsuoka iteration. Yuck. Does the air intake indicate an ICE power plant, I wonder?

I dont get it. Is this about a heads-up display? If so, why doesnt the caption say? Why eight cameras in the front since the driver can simply look out the windshield to see what's there?

It looks like a car with a snout; more so if it were pink.

Thanks Hillclimber, that's what the story should have said. The appearance of the car is (very) secondary to what they are trying to do. A photo and explanation of the dash would make much more sense.

fwiw, I have just fitted a dash cam/rear cam combo with a rear view mirror screen. The rear view is a vast improvement on the rear view mirror, which like most vans shows very little. The set cost about 12000 yen with the clip on mirror screen, both cameras (front 2k, rear full HD) and a SD card fitted. It puts out GoPro level footage where number plates are clearly readable. Highly recommended.

Japanese design, eh? Let's just hope they didn't couple it with Italian engineering...

Like the Alfa Romeo Arna ; )

Quite so, some people don't understand the meaning of concept.

If you don't mind, from which maker?

sorry its ugly....

Seriously ugly car. Yes I get that the electronics are the “concept”, but if that is the case why show just the ugly exterior. Any marketer knows appearance sells and if you want to sell the concept the packaging matters.

It seemed that this Kyocera concept car was not warmly welcomed by most of the audience in this forum. I am no exception. The design aesthetic of this retro-styled car could potentially overstimulate our nervous system.

Nonetheless, when comparing with the ugly-like-sin one off car called Aurora designed by an enthusiastic New York priest in 1957 (see https://www.gatsbyonline.com/automobile/aurora-1957-la-voiture-la-plus-laide-du-monde-353821/), I believe you would agree that this Kyocera concept car is still attractive and conservative.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I reckon it looks boss. Classic old look with new high tech.

Sigh. I agree. My little boy always asks why I use the big side mounted mirrors when backing our van up instead of the camera. I learned to back and parallel park using mirror, then drove big buses and tractor trailers to pay for college. Never had a camera to back up a bus or a trailer. Did it with the mirrors. The camera seems unnatural and I am less sure of where I am using the camera than when using the mirrors. The kid doesn't understand this, thinks tech relieves you of the need for basic driving skills.

Imagine driving up your in laws driveway with this.

Who needs 8 cameras when you only got 2 eyes!?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

If this ever come to fruition, and I was totally wrecked from booze one night, and this was a new taxi, I would still stagger home! there is no way I would be seen dead or alive in it!

what the so called designer has not taken into consideration is that garages have lifts to lift cars into the air for easy servicing, but they cant handle 3 wheedled cars as their is no support for the centre rear wheel!! hahaha, as for the Como teck, please make it disappear for good! it hurts my eyes

To Brian Wheway,

It is a four wheeled car, and not a 3 wheedled car.
