Masahiro Motoki is one of the cooler actors in JP, digged him in Okuribito.

I've heard the movie is amazing -- from people in many of the countries in which it is more or less finished being screened (once again, Japan is incredibly slow!). I'm glad Ang Lee did this movie, as it's guaranteed to be good. Aside from a couple of duds, he is an amazing writer/director. I've read the novel three times, and while I'm sure there are parts that stray from it a little (from what I've heard), I've still heard the movie is a tear-jerker, and the 3-D, for a change, is amazing.

I don't care what anyone says I liked the incredible hulk!

Dreadful book. The protagonish was a drip, and sci-fi meercats? No thanks. I'm sure it will be visually riveting, though.

Me and the wife saw this about ten days ago in 3D. It was good, a little long but worth watching. on a scale of 10 I'd give it a 7.0. The wife on the other hand raved about it and has just told me 8.5. I have heard it was a hard book to read but despite what Nessie above say's about the meercats - which may have been hard to describe in the book - was a top scene in the movie. For me not a movie I'd queue for hours in Shibuya but I went on a wet Sunday afternoon and enjoyed it with about 20 other people in the little corner of the world I am at the moment. There are plenty of trailers online so you can get the feel of it. Great special effects and top 3D. Catch it if you can.

I'v seen this movie twice both in 3D and 2D. It is beautifully directed and has an engaging story. The scenery and special effect are top notch. I took my daughters with me and they both loved it. I would recommend this film to anyone. It is nice to see a film that everyone can see with it's PG. I think it's awesome it has made it to Japan.

After winning the Man Booker Prize, in 2002, Martel was accused in an article in The Guardian of plagiarism for his book Life of Pi, which has the same main story that Max e os Felinos (Max and the Cats), a book written by the Brazilian author Moacyr Scliar. Martel then lied about how he had originally come across the story. Pity Scliar couldn't be bothered to sue the Canadian. I wonder how much credit he'll get at the end of the movie.
