pigeon feeding is nice, I do it sometimes. Relives stress. Each time I get close to nature, seems my stress just disappears for a bit.

I've always loved that statue. I call it "Finally, A Statue Of Clothed Women."

How do we know this is a park in Japan? No benches to sit on while you feed the pigeons. And is it really a 'park'? looks like a tiny little square sandwiched in between buildings.

I once found a crow that seemed to have a gammy wing in the garden, put it in a cardboard box where the dogs couldn't get at it and gave it a bit of dog food. When I looked an hour later the bird and the food had gone, so I imagine the wing wasn't as gammy as it looked.

Pigeons is nice. Symbol of peace, and all that.

Pigeons are fun, except for their droppings. Crows I can live with unless they hit the garbage bags left out uncovered.

Disgusting that it is even allowed to feed pigeons here.

A pigeon produces 10-12 kg droppings a year. They contain uric acid that erodes and corrodes metals. Even through dried droppings salmonellosis, cryptococcosis, and campylobacter can be transmitted to humans. Most at risk are allergy sufferers, the elderly and immunocompromised people and children. Wild pigeons have a life span of 12 - 15 years, the city pigeons only 2 to 3 years. By not feeding them, they return to their natural habitat.

Doves are the symbols of peace.

These are feral pigeons. Disgusting, but hey, they are wild animals after all, pretty harmless.

Pigeons are the least of the birds that should be fed. People should stop doing that.

I occasionally give the park pigeons an end-piece of a hard dry French baguette. They swarm it in a frenzy feed, pecking and flinging it like a soccer ball all over...fun to watch.

From wiki - Pigeons and doves constitute the bird family Columbidae within the order Columbiformes, which include some 300 species of near passerines. In general parlance the terms "dove" and "pigeon" are used somewhat interchangeably. In ornithological practice, there is a tendency for "dove" to be used for smaller species and "pigeon" for larger ones, but this is in no way consistently applied

I wonder if he would still feed the pidgeons if they crapped on his head.

"By not feeding them, they return to their natural habitat."

Nowhere for them to go. They ARE already in their natural habitat.

Run before the birds peck out your tonsils and turn you to stone!

Anybody else looking forward to the nature special on NHK this Sunday evening? The slow motion anteater's tongue from the perspective of the ants looked awesome in the preview.

Stop feeding the poop machines. Use the money saved to help feed the homeless instead.

Perhaps you could go on to list all the infectious properties of the human being and then tell them to return to their natural habitat.

Pigeons have the same right to be where ever they want as you do. The fact that somebody has taken the time to feed them is really quite nice. What an incredibly cold and barren place cities would be if there were no natural life forms other than grey soulless human beings?

Maybe you've forgotten what mankind has done to nature ? This earth is for every living being my friend. By the way us human beings create more pollution and problems for the environment than all living things combined together.

Many times man thinketh other living things are of lesser value compared to human. Something to think about ;)
