Congrats. These guys were clearly the class of the tournament, and have gotten huge coverage in the U.S., especially on ESPN.

All for one and one for all.

Saw the end of it.

After the victory, the Japanese team went to the visitor's side of the dugout and bowed to the Tennesse crowd in unison. After that, they ran around the field with large Japan and U.S. flags to show their appreciation. What really got to me was when they completed their run, the Japanese members gently folded the U.S. flag. These are elementary school kids we're talking here. Total Class.

It is also very amazing that the other day Japanese female players that defeated American team won the World Cup of women's baseball in Canada.

These young men were an absolute joy to watch! Every game it seemed to be a different one who stood out. They demonstrated complete selflessness and a determination that astounded me. They performed almost like a machine. The manager is an amazing man. 72 years old, doing this for 44 years! This is his second LLWS title personally. He lost a third a couple of years ago to a team from Georgia as the result of an extra-inning, "Sayonara" homerun! He, the coaches, and of course the players, richly deserve the title of WORLD CHAMPIONS! Good job, TEAM JAPAN!

Most people live their entire lives without enjoying such success. I hope the savour the moment. Ahhh, to be young again.

WBC champs x2, Now LLWC. We own baseball! Congrats boyz.

Well done! Clearly, the American boys should be training every day after school - including weekends - like the Japanese kids. You gotta train like a pro would to win the silverware. These kids will be future megastars in the Major Leagues, for sure and certain.

Congrats on a well deserved victory! Not only did they win this, but they have ensured Japan will continue to be a top team, if not THE top team, in the world of baseball for years to come. I didn't see the game, but from reading nigelboy's post it sounds like they did indeed show a lot of class both during and after the game. Congrats again!

Watching kids play is DEFINITELY better than watching the pros!

Congrats to the Japan LL team. I watched 3 of their games and will catch the final in the next day or so. Only the team from Taiwan gave them a challenge. As someone said above, they are in a class all by themselves.

The ESPN broadcasters couldn't stop gushing over them and especially 6 ft. 200 lb. 13 year old Kiyomiya who hit two homeruns in the game against Panama I watched last night. Unfortunately, I don't think they get a lot of press in Japan. All the Japanese people I've talked to about them, baseball fans included, were like "Who? I don't know."

Haha, amateurish play by the losers. Time to bring in the pros!

Yikes! Saw a story on him but didn't know he was that big! They are drug testing in this event, no? Not that I'm accusing them of anything - but that is damn HUGE!

A city with 12 million against a city with 15,000 doesn't make you king of the world. You own tournaments that mean very little in the grand scheme of pro ball. When you have a representative number in the majors then yes you will own it. Congrats boys.

really nice to see this

My son is 13 years old and is close to 6ft tall as well. Yeah he has my gwaijin blood in him, but Mom is Japanese and tiny so to me that isn't all the huge.

I did get to see a number of the games while I was in the states and the Japanese team played very well. These boys did a great job! Congratulations to them!

My 12yr old isn't all that tall, bout 160cm (females in family are short) but wears size 26 shoes. Build is after me 160 shirts but narrow waist, atleast I used to be.

He was also in the baseball play-offs in his 2nd grade(still got the medal for the Tokyo area).
