I dunno.... I saw a windows 7 phone in the store the other day, it ran in full HD and was a real PC with an SSD drive in it the size of a regular phone. The guy couldn't tell me how long the battery last so I skipped buying it. Not sure about these phones.

When will these so called smartphones come with a SMART BATTERY?? Iphones etc..have really really shitty batteries! Great in case of an emergency right? Oh! Now I can not call the cops nor the fire department on my new shiny smart phone because the battery only lasts a few minutes if I actually use ANY OF THE COOL APPLICATIONS! OMG!!

I hear they're going to go one up on the iPhone with a function sure to appeal to businesses:

FAX

Regardless of your choice of 'smart' phones, they are only as 'smart' as the person using them.

Looking smart?

Windows Phone 7(.5) looks anything but smart. In fact that was the ugliest POC I have seen in a long time

You mean "Teenage Girls on school holidays in the AKB obsessed culture show off Windows Phone IS12T smartphones in Tokyo on Wednesday."

I can assure you that from the way I observe people using these phones, they should call them "clueless phones" which would be more appropriate to call the devices and or the people using them.

I think they are forced to smile in this photo. ask these girls which phone they use and they might both answer iPhone.

I had a window PC friend that had a Iphone.. got it stolen so he thought he would try a Windoze 7 phone to match his wonderful virus filled PC... Well guess what he gave the Windoze 7 phone away to his Daughter and bought an Iphone again... Said it was useless compared to the Iphone. Go Apple!!!! I agree....

@adhocmanager, actually iphone usage in japan is not that high. they are more likely to use something resembling a conventional cell phone.

actually iphone usage in japan is not that high

It's the best selling smartphone in Japan but people are more likely to use non-smartphones...

I was kidding about FAX. No Windows phone has that function - yet.

But once they work out the wrinkles, it's going to be a world beater!

It does have TILES, though. Eat your heart out iPhone!

And it has ZUNE built in. Take that, iTunes!

And, apparently it can PLAY GAMES! (Both of them - Minesweeper AND Solitaire!)

But, we'll have to wait a while. Apparently it's not out until September!

And, as Microsoft is hammering together the OS, that probably means September 2012.
