Singer Hiromi Go, 53, center, poses with the eight semifinalists of the Lux Shine Audition. The winner will earn the chance to star in a LUX hair product commercial next year along with a Hollywood actress, as well as score a scholarship. Go offered some words of wisdom to the women on surviving in the world of show business, as this year marks the 38th year since his debut. "I'm like a 24 hour hot-water supply system," he declared when asked if he ever takes a break. "I'm always on, never off." Each contestant has been provided with a 100 million yen "hair insurance" in order to maintain their luscious locks throughout the competition. You can vote for the woman of your choice online at http://www.luxfilm.jp/ until July 31.

Such beautiful woman! Hiromi looks like a pimp.

I like 4th from the left

old purple thunder has got a lazy eye, or too much batting of the eyelashes

What a line up. Japanese girls are top shelf. The one on the far right needs a smile. The two girls immediately right and left of Hiromi are the most beautiful, but beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

Mr. "Always on, never off" Go has found some very attractive ladies. The girl on the right however looks a bit unhappy. I would be glad to cheer her up. Perhaps someone twisted up her bronze-silk dress just a little too tightly?

abromofo at 02:18 PM JST - 8th July Not one of them is standing in that funny pigeon-toed manner that westerners love to criticise Japanese girls for doing. Maybe it's gone out of fashion?
That's because they are dressed and posed in a Western fashion - soto/uchi, tatemai/honne. You know, right?
OhioDonna
The contestants' hair looks mighty thin to me, especially the lady on Go's left. There is one who is not smiling. They are all rather good looking.

Is Lux now into the oyaji plastic surgery business now?
BTW how refreshing to see Japanese women with NATURALLY looking hair and none of that cheap dye job which seems to be so ubiquitous.
nandakandamanda
The two on the left are the wrong way round.
Netgaijin
Sorry, she is Myah. She is just 20 years.
Netgaijin
The guy says he is a geezer (geyser)... ;-)
UdaMan
Second from right. Done and done. Thank you, ladies; Mr. Go, nice shoes, now goodbye.
Netgaijin
The third from the left. She wins. Her name is Maria.
TokyoHustla
I don't really see what I like her. Can we get 8 new finalists?
abromofo
Excellent! You've left fourth left in the blue for me!
IvanCoughalot
Third left in the blue-green, and extreme left in the red, please take one step forward. Everybody else, that's all for today, thank you for coming, better luck next time.

I agree wholeheartedly! I am similarly blessed.

Not one of them is standing in that funny pigeon-toed manner that westerners love to criticise Japanese girls for doing. Maybe it's gone out of fashion? And they're all gorgeous to me!

Japan is Blessed with beautiful women. I married one and have been blessed.

Get plastic surgery each month, just like me.

I made a Takasu Clinic TV CM with Go-san 5 years ago. He was very down to earth, spoke good English and evidently enjoyed being surrounded by the fairer sex.
Proffesor
If that's what 'Lux' does to the hair, I will give it a thumbs down. None of the above impresses me.

I would love to be a fly on the wall back-stage here just to catch a glimpse of the catiness going on. The one on the far right with the soul-less eyes looks like she could claw someone's uterus out.
nisegaijin
The legs on that 3rd from the left... it's something else...
yokomoc
Haha Go-san, 年中無休だね!
iraira
I'm voting for Go to get a commemorative statute in front of each and every Takasu Clinic.
smartacus
The one on the far right doesn't look too happy. Maybe she ran out of shampoo.

Unless i hypnotize myself i can't think of voting this time. Better i reserve my vote for the next competition.
Antonios_M
ha ha ha ha. What a modest guy.

Added Go, "Please kill me. I have been reduced to promoting hair products. My soul is dead."
combinibento
This dude could use a little help in coming up with metaphors. And hair insurance? Hope AIG isn't underwriting those policies with my hard-earned cash...
