obama could learn from mao-chan's bow...
Japanish
Could he join the Sunrise Party of Japan?

Its not a bow. The Emperor just said that his shoes were more expensive then her kimono collection and she is just zooming in for a closer look thats all.

Agree the bowing on either side was not that great, but the idea was there & a bit of a salute to said figure skater. If she wore a kimono I could not see it in this photo.
bobbafett
what was bizarre was everyone who was interviewed said "I was so nervous I cannot remember anything that happened".

haha bobbafett..that happened to me last weekend givn a speech at my buddies weddn..but i wasnt so nervous..alien abudction?? I think people are not allowed to look in the empr's face and that is why she is looking down when he was talking to her..that's not a bow

You know what this means, don't you? Higher-paid sponsorships for Mao chan.

Long live Their Majesties, the Emperor and the Empress of Japan.

He looks such a happy and warm hearted old guy!

I like this photo a lot, but wonder...is the Emperor really short?
nath
@Ranger Miffy: His Imperial Majesty the Emperor is 166cm in height - yet this is a full centimeter on his father, His Imperial Majesty the Emperor Showa (R.I.P.). May the Imperial institution itself likewise continue to grow in stature.

They are out of touch and only needed for the pleasure of right wing nut jobs.
