California is broke and going down the drain and it's governator is spending tax payers money on a trip (for what?) to Japan. Hopefully Meg Whitman will get elected Governor and fire lots of useless state workers then farm those jobs out to the private sector which need it badly.

Arnold sure looks like he is having a great time in Japan while California goes down the tubes. So sad.

Hawkeye & alladin: Maybe he's trying to do something for California. A new rail system will create jobs and wealth in his state.

Go Arnie! I don't know why you're wasting California tax dollars to go to Asia for an "economic tour of the region" when you're forced out of office due to term limits in November, but at least TRY to figure out how to get the economy back on track.

Maybe you guys should scroll down and read the JT article: "Kan makes pitch for Japan's bullet train system to Schwarzenegger.'

Terminator meets Tokyo. Great photo!

Kan offered Shwa 40 billion dollars to finance building a Bullit Train in California. That is money down the drain!!! California is bankrupt and can never repay the "loan" (I guess it is really a donation or "sympathy money"). Not only that, I doubt California can afford the upkeep once completed. And finding people who could safely run the system, another big problem. Look for as many accidents as Amtrack.

"Shuwa-chan, please, please, tell me HOW you remained in office for eight years......."

I saw the "Governator" speak at the Keio Plaza Hotel this morning. He was entertaining and inspiring. Seems like he has a lot of initiatives on the go to stimulate the state's economy and also to stop overspending but he's inherited a difficult decision making system and an even crappier economy.

Very nice picture! But too bad we don't know what the humor was about.

Saw Arnold in the Expendables, too. Only for a fleeting moment.

Some people just instinctively discredit and criticize before knowing the facts. But actually a new reliable hi-speed rail system would be very good for California. It will create jobs (like someone else pointed out) and it will get people out of their polluting automobiles and make many less dependent on air travel. It will build a better infrastructure, which is about time.

Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger is doing his job and don't begrudge him a good laugh :-)

It's high time for the U.S.A. to rethink it's transportation system. Presently, it's wall to wall with people and the highways are bumper to bumper. Not only does California need the hi-speed rail system the entire country needs it ASAP.

Los Angeles has the worst daily traffic jams in the United States. But bullet trains go from city to city, not intra-city. It only makes sense in densely populated corridors, like the Northeast corridor and maybe San Diego - L.A. - San Francisco.

arnie looks like he just came from the bowling alley in those shoes.
