British-born actress Mischa Barton, 22, best known for the TV series "The O.C.," meets the press in Tokyo on Wednesday to promote her film "Closing the Ring." The tear-jerker, directed by Richard Attenborough, starts in 1943 with a dying American airman giving a ring to a Belfast local to return to his girlfriend (Barton) in the U.S. Fifty years later, another man finds the ring and sets out for America to find the girlfriend (Shirley MacLaine). The film opens in Japan in July.

"She is 22 although she looks older"

My thoughts exactly.

Happy days! A movie partly set in Belfast that is not only about the troubles. But checking the trailer, it does seem to be thrown into the storyline for good measure:

The plane crashes on the Cavehill, where I used to walk my dogs every day. Definitely looking forward to seeing this!!

I assume that you have gotten too used to the young looking faces of Japaneses females and thus think that westerners are older than their age?

btw...is this like a romantic lord of the rings? ;p

Bonus - there's a nude scene in the movie.

I hope it's not of Shirley MacLaine.

Blimey - Shirley MacLaine's ring....oh dear...

Mind you, she used to be a bit of all right. Time is the fire which burns us, as anyone who saw Sophia Loren on Smap earlier this week will attest.

I think, however, this is not a film to be enjoyed by chaps, unless they're hoping to play the "don't cry, my sweet, here, let me put my big strong arm around you" card.

"I assume that you have gotten too used to the young looking faces of Japaneses females and thus think that westerners are older than their age?" I'm not the one you asked but anyway if somebody thinks in this way let me tell them that "love to asian women is just a covered form of pedophilia". Well known proverb...
