Ten Miss Universe Japan 2009 entrants are introduced to the media on Wednesday. More than 4,000 girls applied for the Miss Universe Japan 2009 contest, which has gained prestige in Japan following the success of Riyo Mori (Miss Universe in 2007) and Kurara Chibana (1st runner-up in 2006). Looks like more fun than one of those kiddie rooms in MacDonalds filled with balls. Seriously I can't decide who is most fitting until I hear each and every one of them tell me how they intend to bring about world peace.

good stuff, but dime a dozen here.
nimbus

Looks like the Japanese version of "The Stepford Wives".

I'll take the second one from the far left in blue. I like blue, and she is out of focus enough to allow me to imagine her the way I like her.
SushiSake3
The lady at the front and the one wearing green third from the back - yum.
Any other posters got some more pointless, girls-as-eyecandy comments ? :-)

Given that they are Miss Universe Japan contestants, they're all probably rather unfocused.

first stage screening results: front: 1st, 2nd, 6th 7th and 8th :)

Sadly none of them can hold a candle to Kurara.

Not all girls in Japan are meant to become OL's or the stereotypical cutie type that some of you guys here have probably met/known in your very limited exposure with Japanese women. There are those who have dreams... being a beauty queen is just one of them! You may not know it, but some of these girls had probably given up a lot of opportunities just to make it into the Top 10! MUJ '06 Kurara Chibana herself had taken this risk - giving up a luxurious job offer just to continue with the pageant - and the rest is history!

You guys are dreamin'! The only person who has a chance with these ladies is yours truly, and that's the bottom line!

For a country who say they are so proud of their history and culture, they seem to mimic western people a hell of a lot.

neverknow2 - that's because it's their best chance at winning Miss Universe.

I like bamboohat's 6:35 post.

The fifth one from the left in the orange cammo outfit looks a bit like a mannequin? Her face is beautifully plastic.

Everton2: The optional plural is "Bimbi". Anyway, the one in the middle showing a little leg is nice. The one in front has a nice face but seems a bit "hippy". Hooray for hottie pics and chauvanism!

I take them all. Now move on, nothing to see here. :-)

Looks like as very good use of foam rubber, duct tape and botox. Of course everyone know Japanese women are the best looking in the world without all the hodge poge. So desu ne?

Many Japanese women are beautiful, and stay really good looking even through middle age. But I must remind you...women are women and it does not matter what part of the world they come from. I think you get my point.

I am developing the habit of hearing voices in my mind.
USARonin
555Book, to be truly free you must listen to those voices and do whatever they say.
At a minimum, your life will become infinitely more interesting.
You'll see.

I wonder what selection criterion is. There are many contests over Miss ---. I can not always understand it when I see the result of contests. I think finalists of the contests are all beautiful and have good figure. What is conclusive factor with winner? If Riyo Mori who is Miss Universe in 2007 and Kurara Chibana who is 1st runner-up in 2006 competed in same contest, which would be selected as a Japanese representative? I saw pictures of Miss Universe Japan 2009 and thought every finalist had a chance to be Miss Universe Japan. But personally I like a lady at the right end on the picture because she has fair skin and good figure. Also green dress suits her. So I want her to be selected as Japanese representative.

J ladies look better in JT because of this male-bonding session we are having now. I must admit my perspective is heavily influenced by all the pretty J-pop idols to an extend I have this bias that J ladies are always better looking.
tokyokitty
When they pic the Miss Universe 2009, after rigorous months of training with Ines. She'll be all plastic, no more natural. For proof see Ines' blog.

All very nice. But the slightly large one 4th from the right in the black dress, is she the chef in that venue ? Or maybe the winner of Miss Weightwatchers Universe, right ?
And the one 2nd from the right is about 42 years old.
northlondon
So 555, I am under the impression that you might be attracted to the J ladies ?
northlondon
Come on JT. What's the story with the big mamma 4th from the right ?
jonnyboy
the one on the right = WOW
Blue_Tiger
I thkn kthe one in front is the cutest, but they are all beautiful, really.....
eresay
These are obviously not finalists right? A poor representation of J women if I ever saw it. 2nd from the right is on the wrong side of 40 for sure.
ptolemy
Woo hoo the best skank plasticists! Is this really the best Japan can offer, I think not. Pretty from way far, but way far from pretty.
