They should also provide some fashion guides! The two "outfits" worn by Riyo and Hiroko are awful. Kurara is quite the elegant one in this picture.

Clothes they wear simply sucks! But other than that my comment is: "Ii na!!!"

woooo! We need many more photos like this, please.

i think the new girl will not be able to achieve anywhere near the performance of her two predecessors.

I dont get it

I had to take a second look at 2006 Miss Universe first runner-up Kurara Chibana. Are high heels and nylons in fashion? I can't even imagine that fashion in the US.

in my country those 3 girls would not even smell the doorstep of Miss Universe Pageant...all of them were so 'fake' during the Pageant...unlike all the Misses of other countries. Ms Inez is lucky to get that lucrative job in Japan.

chibana is so the hottest of the three mori couldn't spell "Cat" if you spotted her the "C" and the "T"

Thought i will never believe in Ghosts but this picture has shaken my belief.

i still don't understand how these women could win the miss universe title. they're just so-so good looking. everyday you can see so many more beautiful women walking around the streets of tokyo. i guess it's just because they're tall?--or maybe because the judges have a stereotypical sense of "oriental" "beauty"?

ditto philmoscowitz

philomoscowitz and ninjazilla- the lady who trains Miss Japan contestants is French, and apparently selects candidates that conform to Western images/ideals of Japanese women, which differ from what Japanese people (and some expats, apparently) consider ideal. That said, Chibana is still the best of the bunch, confirmed by the fact that she has the most appearances in Japanese media.

Could someone tell the three of them to stop stalking me?

Hiromi Nishiuchi (Triumph Image Girl 2009) makes these women look like plain wall flowers.

I agree Kurara is the hottest here, but this is definitely not the best photo of Hiroko.

I have seen much better walking along a busy shibuya intersection. Of course I am such a stud that I can judge and nitpick who looks good and who doesn't, if they don't fit my high standards too bad.

I like the photo. And Hiroko Mima is cute.

I thought it was shinjuku

I dont like that segement of Japanese society that is clearly trying to imitate another race. Hiroko be proud of being Japanese and stop trying to look like something you are not.

"I dont like that segement of Japanese society that is clearly trying to imitate another race."

Rather than using the word "imitate", try "blending in" (As in how most Japanese women dye their hair to look Caucasian to blend in with the rest of the developed world, and not a form of self-racism).

Most Japanese women dye their hair to look Causasian, really? Have you been to Japan? Uniformity(for women) in appearance, especially when you work is an absoulte. Part of that Uniformity is Black hair and would highly doubt that more than a small percentage of women in Japan dye thier hair blonde(or any colour) for fear of sticking out and/or not getting a job. If you want to talk about racism related to hair colour, watch an Asience commercial(which get air time in Japan).

When was the last time you were in Japan? Or rather what field of work are you refering to? Bank teller girls? Leaving aside the blonde dye thing, the use of brown-auburn hair coloring particularly on Japanes women is widely accepted in Japanese society today. I say this having seen changes over the last 20 years visiting Japan. At this point having brown hair is hardly "trying to look caucasian" anymore. Not to mention that there are Japanese I've met with naturally dark brown hair that you could never call "black".

I don't particularly understand what eresay is trying to state here. Exactly how is Miss Hiroko trying to imitate another race and stop looking like something she is not, even basing such a false statement on this one photo alone?

Is it her hairstyle? Hardly a unique hair style to any particular geographical area or racial group, and I certainly don't see it dyed any differently. Is it her clothing? Ditto.

The fact is the Hiroko you see here and in other pictures is herself as she is naturally. In fact, Hiroko does look "exotic" in terms of her skin color and features, and looks more Southeast asian than Japanese. I believe this is what hurt her in this year's Miss Universe pageant as she does not "fit" the mold. But her physical features is what she was born with, and if she truly was "not trying to be Japanese," don't you think she would lighten her skin or do those other types of true self hating things? Nothing about her gives me the impression that she "hates" her self or what she is.

Weird comments sometimes.

Amazing grace how sweet that sound

They're all hot. Not necessarily their best photos, but they're all hot.

Balderdash. Most Japanese women who dye their hair do so because it's boring boring boring to look at a mass of black in the mirror every day. Nowadays changing your hair colour is no more of a statement than changing your underwear.

I'm blonde; if I dye my hair red am I trying to look like a Scot? Or maybe just having fun with my looks?
