A visitor, wearing Canon Inc's head-mounted display, looks at his hand during a demonstration of the company's MR (Mixed Reality) technology system at the 3D and Virtual Reality Expo in Tokyo on Wednesday. The device which combines reality and 3D computer graphics will be on display at the expo until June 22.

I guess this is not the final design?

Yes, his haircut will be improved.

When I was younger I was told that robots would take over humans jobs in the future, but I wasn't told they would take over humans. The future for humanity looks bright!

I'd rather have a magic carpet.

a quick way to fry the brain

pamelot: I'd rather have a magic carpet.

squidBert: Well just so happens I have one for sale.

pamelot forks over huge amount of cash. Gets on carpet and waits.

SquidBert: - Oh, you meant one that could fly didn't you?

SquidBert walks away with huge amount of cash while thinking - Life is good.

.

Imagination beats virtual reality any day.

anti conspiracy goggles? :p

No mixed reality about this, the guy looks like an idiot with that thing on.

@Squidbert

I think you are funny and you're priceless on Spongebob too.

I was trying to identify some stars using AR on my iPhone the other day. One was Jupiter (yes, I know it's a planet). The 2nd one, I'm not too sure as I was getting weird looks and put my phone away :-)

Anyway, laugh now but AR is here and it will get bigger. I imagine it will bring some amazing changes to everyday living. What a pity that we're poisoning the planet at the same time.

@squidBert:

Imagination, is funny...

Canon should focus on making a printer that doesn't jam.

I don't get it. Do the glasses render what you already see with your own eyes into 3D animated graphics? And the point of that would be?

Mantis?

The reality being that this product looks like crap and probably is?

@ReformedBasher,

I think you are funny and you're priceless on Spongebob too. I think you have me mistaken for my slightly more congenial cousin Squidward?

AR is great, I'll be lining up in front of the store when they release the Google glasses. The monstrosity on the picture? Not so much.

3d AV, I can almost touch her ^_^

So how much is it? I want to know how much money I'm going to save by not buying this.

Yes, haven't watched Spongbob for a while :-) My ex-student (spoke fluent English at 4!) loved watching him.

The headset reminds me of the one in the movie Brainstorm. It got shrunk, this will too.

Amazing my hand is in 3D! :p

Karl Pilkington had this idea ages ago.

I take my reality straight. No mixer.

Brave man...

I prefer my reality with some jGov mixer. It ain't healthy, but it sorta grows on you.

Could be, they could also be motion sensors. I definitely agree with it not being very mobile, though. Looks like there's a decent-sized cable that trails off the back of the device. it has to plug in SOMEWHERE.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@Fadamor it plugs into the matrix. There is no spoon.
