Kenichi Ito poses for photographers with a Certificate of the Guinness World Records after setting the fastest time to run 100 meters on all fours at Komazawa Olympic Park Stadium in Tokyo on Thursday. Known as "Monkey Man," Ito, 30, has trained in the four-legged style of walking and running for nine years in his daily life by studying primates' movements through books, video and visiting the zoo frequently. He ran 100 meters in 17.47 seconds, 1.11 seconds faster than the time he set in 2008.

If this catches on we will have to make doorways wider and less high. Or just turn them sideways.

He obviously has a happy life, if he's able to spend 9 years trying to be a monkey...
He even has the haircut of an annoying person.

ahh sweet i saw this guy on youtube a year or so ago.. so he actually did achieve something other than look incredibly bizarre. Good on him.

I wonder when he'll be making his debut on TV as a "talento" with that run.

man these guiness records used to be so special. now almost anyone can get in.

If I remember correctly, he started doing this to offset bullying and mockery about his looks, when he was a school student. Good for him - congratulations!

Great human interest story -- and some heartwarming background to this. Kudos on the world record Kenichi!
Apparently, he was nearly shot by a hunter who mistook him for a wild boar while training in the Japanese countryside.

I am getting fed up with my Innocent comments being removed. Obviously some moderator has a problem with me yet he lets worse comments stay.
This is my say and my free speech. There is something wrong with a human being that acts like a monkey for 8 years and runs around making people including myself worried whether he is on drugs or drunk.
I live in Japan and this would be very unusual. I would not feel comfortable.
So again I will say. There must be something wrong him.

I live in Japan and this would be very unusual. I would not feel comfortable. He seems to be acting as if a drunk person would and he would be arrested. As it says in his you tube video he mentioned that the police told him not to act like this in public.
So again I will say that "there must be something a little wrong with him..." I will justify that by saying, how many people in the world run around like a monkey?

I don't really understand it, but good on him for achieving his (admittedly bizarre) dream!
Shame on those mocking a person who dedicated 9 years to achieving a goal, however strange that goal may be.
Maybe Hollywood will show some interest in him - he could be the next Gollum.

Yeah, so how many do you have? dare I ask...

good for him....and dang he is very fast!
