Yes, because an entire economic downturn happens in two years, and like, you know, not take a decade of events to make it happen.
Righhhhhhht.

I doubt we`ll see it dropping much further personally. In recent history, the lowest the yen has dropped to was 79.75 (in 1995) then it subsequently rose to 147 over the next 3 years. So this is a major psychological level here (80)

There is a possibility that noborito is right. If the US housing prices continue to decline then consumer spending will remain weak as people try to reduce debt. Might just dip back into recession again. Hopefully not....

This is the start of the Second Economic failure.

Symbolic picture of current Japanese economy.

The weak dollar is great for the US. Can bring manufacturing home again, create jobs, and export quality American goods and get the U.S economy humming again.

Japan will intervene again after this weekend's G20 meeting in Korea.

I think if the U.S. gov't hadn't gone on this wild spending spree the past two years the dollar would be worth more than 81 yen now.

It's a hard life... Doing nothing for a living! Yen at 79.5 tomorrow.
bobbafett
Oh boy. I just moved into a cheaper apartment due to getting my salary in dollars, pounds, and euros. If this keeps up I will be sleeping under a bridge and drinking SPARX chi-hi.
ilcub76
just looked and the yen was 80.99 -- looks like tomorrow will be even better!
combinibento
