A famous ukiyo-e (woodblock print) by Utamaro Kitagawa is recreated in a rice field in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture. In early June, 200 adults and children planted five types of rice, arranged for viewing from the nearby observation deck 20 meters high. Photos of the planting process and art from previous years can be seen here.
