If the weather holds I foresee loads of people going for hanami this weekend. Maybe not so much with the karaoke and drinking, but none-the- less picnicking with family and friends.
The landscape is exposing the nature with blossoming cherries and people's busy activities. She has a date today. He has promised to see her and invite for a lunch at a nearby restaurant.
It's a positive image of hope. The meaning of Spring, the cherry blossoms and the energy of youth.
People will sit under those trees at the weekend, some taking in the beauty, some reflecting on those not here any more. For many it's just a nice way to relax in a very hectic, fast paced city.
At first I thought it was a good photo of the young ones jogging through snow, but upon the inlarged photo I noted the green grass showing & those were lovel cherry blossoms & not snow.
You guys gotta watch this appeal on Youtube, it was on the news last night, and because of it evidently, tons of people were drinking it up and having a blast, thumbing their noses at Ishihara! Copy and paste the following into a youtube browser, it's subtitled in English too! Spread the word, no self restraint, go hanami!

Looks pretty peaceful and normal! Is it in Tokyo?

Where are all the salarymen and OLs? They must be showing restraint after Tokyo Gov Ishihara asked citizens to tone down their hanami parties.

No beer, no hanami party....brings tears to my eyes....(the no beer part)

Nah, just a work day. Though when I saw all the sakura this morning I felt like taking the day off and having an impromptu hanami.

What, You're expecting everyone here to be running for their lives? ;-)
Yes, it's Tokyo.

There will be no playing and no running signs going up soon.

Recently I've learned the Japanese love running.
Harry_Gatto
I don't think you have learned very much, everyone is still here, still working etc. Come and see for yourself, if you dare that is.

They aren't even jogging under the cherry blossoms, jogging close to them but not under.
Moderator: No, they are jogging under them.
