Japantime, google is your friend. He has been the Japanese number 1 player for some time, number 33 in the world (and that will probably go up after AO), and he's had a great 2022 season and started 2023 strong. Unfortunately, something happened the two sets, either the nerves of being in the 4th round of a grand slam for the first time (his legs were quite dead, and footwork is his biggest weapon), or his defensive strategy against the super aggressive Khachanov backfired big time. He raised his level in the third, but it was too late.
And yes, he shares the spot of the shortest player on tour with Schwartzmann. 170 cm.
And he is one of the nicest guys on tour. After two bagels, he was obviously frustrated.

Poor Nishioka only won 2 points in the second set! Losing a set 24 points to 2 must be close to a record.....

Serendipitous...Nishioka won 6 GAMES in the 3rd set and 4 POINTS in the third set tiebreaker...just for clarity.
