No contest

Of course not. The "opposition" didn't even show up. Time to call a spade, a spade, and say dictatorship.

What are you talking about? It was a political party election.

Oh, seems he's the longest serving PM for quite a while now......

TheTiger: "Oh, seems he's the longest serving PM for quite a while now......"

After being one of the shortest.

In any case, he's no doubt making speeches about this is CLEARLY the 'will of the people' and how he must therefore represent their wishes to push through legislation that will pave the way for constitutional changes and eventually the draft. It won't matter that the majority are against what he is doing and had no say in this 'election', he'll say the people have mandated his choices, and this is proof.

L'il Kim Dung'Un got re-elected similarly.

If there wasn't any opposition, why use the verb "win" then? He didn't win anything, he basically made it that no opposition will face him.

After being one of the shortest.

And literally one of the worst. Although one could argue which one of Aso or him is the worst.

I really can't bear to see his face anymore.

How grim is this when a guy like abe(ie bloody AWFUL) gets in with no one else even pretending to want the job, doesn't get much lower than this folks, but I have faith abe will still find many ways to go EVEN lower!!!!

Call a spade a spade.....you have no idea what you are talking about! Fair enough?

He did face a little opposition. A lady named Noda tried to challenge him, but she couldn't even get 20 members to nominate her.

Let's face it who else would want his job?

BertieWooster: Let's face it who else would want his job?

People would line up for it if they thought they could beat him!

I'm not really sure if the lack of competition is a good thing. This actually shows how the entire party is dependent on Mr Abe's skills.

it is a hard position not too many people want it. a lot of criticism , hardly any appreciation of effort.

Looking at his track record, all he's been through, all the World crisis's Japan has had to face......PM Abe has done real good. There's not a lot of starving people on the streets in Japan are there?!! I've yet to see ghetto towns in Japan like there are in the US, Western Europe, the so called 'advanced' Nations. Nothing but respect for PM Abe .........wish I could say that about my President.
