Olympic parade

People take photos and wave at Japanese medalists from the Rio de Janeiro Olympics and Paralympics during a parade in Tokyo's Ginza district on Friday. Some 90 medalists took part in the 2.5-kilometer motorcade through streets from Ginza to Nihonbashi in Tokyo. About 800,000 people lined the route. See story here.

Ten silver medals and 14 bronze medals - well done!

I wonder if funding is better for Japanese Paralympic athletes now. Four years ago one Paralympian hopeful, an athlete called Maya Nakanishi, published a calendar to raise money for a new prosthetic leg, and for general fund to enter international athletics events. You'd think the country would be more supportive. I hope they are, now.
