The cast of the upcoming movie “Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru” (A Strong Wind is Blowing) display their enthusiasm in their characters' uniforms at a promotional event. The movie follows 10 college students with completely different personalities and backgrounds, who go through rigorous physical training with the goal of securing a spot in the Hakone Ekiden, a famous annual university street relay. Among the actors is Dante Carver (back row, far right), who is well-known for his role in the Softbank Mobile commercial. The leader of the team is played by Keisuke Koide (front row, center). The movie will be in theaters Oct 31.

The runners all have "bad hair". Dudes need to start styling or changing their hair in Japan.
plasticmonkey
Wow! Is that possible? And they are all united in doing one's best? I've gotta see this one.

Gotta stay away from edamame and bean-related products guys.

Talk about leg waxes for all!

plasticmonkey at 07:45 AM JST - 31st July 10 college students with completely different personalities and backgrounds Wow! Is that possible?
It's okay as long they don't join any clubs at school, but they will have to stop being individuals once they join the work force.
The guy in the upper left hand corner of the picture looks like he should be standing guard on one of those right wing sound trucks (that never get cited for disturbing the wa).

This gets my vote for Best Commentist. Classic!
Wait, don't tell me they're really going to try to pass that Softbank dude off as a college student!?!?! He does have some nice shoes, however.

When they run the race in the final episode, will Dante's otousan be there barking encouragement?

Sounds like the wind stinks something awful.

Sorry... but with all the selling out in Japan it's impossible to take anyone seriously in a movie role. I mean, look at all the comments on this thread; there are only one or two in which the commercials the 'actors' star in are not mentioned. You cannot suspend your disbelief and actually believe in the characters the people are portraying.
plasticmonkey: Best comment of the day!

Ha ha ha!! Great picture after a bad day. I guess the guy with the glasses in the right won't go through that "rigorous physical training" with the goal of securing a spot in the Hakone Ekiden.....

Ha! I thought this was a TV movie, but I just noticed that it will be released in the theaters. JPY 1,800 for this? LOL
All the guys are wearing mizuno shoes. Is it standard for all team members to wear the same brand?
DenDon
there must be some kind of mistake....where is the geeky fat bespectacled character? the loaf to the right is surely not in the movie?
stirfry
a strong wind would definitely brow all those "guys" right over
telecasterplayer
They look a little long in the tooth for college. Vinnie Barbarino Syndrome.

Guess it was fairly easy to cast this movie, as most J-guys are about as thin as long distance runners. But, my gosh, the 2nd guy on the right in the first row can't weigh 50 KG, soaking wet. Those aren't legs, they're toothpicks. Pretty sad that the cheerleaders are all better built than almost any of the guys are. But, in their defense, the guys have better hair.
notimpressed
are girls not allowed to run in this relay?
Yes very varied backgrounds, they even have that guy from southpark in it..whats his name? Token? OH wait, its the softbank guy.
Hotbox08
These guys look as skinny as most top marathon runners.
Freddy5
Sounds like the name of a Spinal Tap album.

Everyone knows there are only 4 personality types in Japan, A, B, AB, and O.
combinibento
well played, tetsukon. Well played.
tigerguy
I don't know about you guys but I'm looking at the georgeous girls in the pic not the young boys...
rogerbentham
it's called 'skinny desu', a movie about average folks in Japan running marathons to stay fit, only to get skinnier.
Sarge
Look at all these fit young people having a great time!
imacat
Why not just call the next movie "Do One's Best" and be done with it? I mean it's always the same... a group of people with "completely different personalities" but who are in fact completely predictable overcome their differences to succeed. Oh the joys of the "gambaru" spirit.
Redeemed
A little odd but they see to have spirit.
