I've got to agree Gurukun, they look pretty girly to me too, and them gesturing at the "boyfriend" sign makes it look a bit like they're hunting for boyfriends themselves.

Whatever happened to manly men? With beards, muscles and sensible short back and sides haircuts?

If I was 13-14, I might consider one of the boys above, but now..., no, thank you, I'll pass. BTW, there are masculine Korean actors, only they don't show them here. Borrow episode one of "Chuno"- it's like a Chippendales show.

What an original name. Seriously if you are going to use an English word for your Asia Pop group at least try to be original.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

oh... you mean "need a girlfriend"? No thanks. ibid the above comments.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

I can't tell the difference from one group from the others. Stay in Korea.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

These groups must be mass produced by Hyundai or Samson. They should be sued for dumping practice.

What a generic and unimaginative name for a group, but no doubt is geared towards the saturated post-pubescent market.

They look good, though; so good luck.

-4 ( +2 / -7 )

They have make up on and their fingernails have been manicured, they also have foundation on them, and they all look the same ,no originality whatsoever...What would a girl be looking for a boyfriend that looks like these guys!!!!

5 ( +5 / -0 )

They are all cute in a teenage sort of way...

Door number 2, Yongmin, after the mandatory military service...

Brothers.... wouldve fit better.

If there's one thing to give North Korea any credit over, it's that they don't produce this kind of polution like they're southern counterpart, and other neighboring countries.

They have nice teeth....

Need a boyfriend?

No thanks.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

By the way, is something wrong with the color of this picture, or do these boys need some sun?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

No real variety of guys.. Who's the "bad boy"? Who's the "baby face"?

If these guys were ice cream flavors they would all be vanilla with just a choice of 1 or 2 chocolate chips or caramel chips on top.

Makes a nice change from AKB48. Well, not nice, but a change.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

real or mannequins, that is the question!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

It's what the teenage girls like, so they're sticking with it!

I'm not going to bag them when Japan is doing the same thing, both with girl groups and so many 'Johnny's' groups. >_<

tomoki: "I can't tell the difference from one group from the others. Stay in Korea."

There's a reason why so many of these bands are so successful here in Japan, my friend, and it's that it's more or less the exact same thing in Japan. The only difference is that most of the South Korean 'bands' can actually sing and dance, where their Japanese faceless counter-parts cannot. I don't know if that's the case with these girly-looking guys, as I will not bother to listen to them, but it is the case with many others.

I like pretty guys much more than manly guys. These kids look like they're about 16, though...

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

20 years from now many of the selfish truth's regarding these boy bands will come out and the joke will be on all the idiots that fell for their marketing.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Good Luck alot of competition from the boy band factory maybe smap can endorse them ???

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They sing in Korean, right? Most Japanese know less Korean than English. While they are cute, it takes more than that.

K-pop and Korean pop culture has a pretty huge following in Japan, though. These factory made boy and girl bands may primarily sing in Korean, but I'm pretty sure they're trained to do their major songs in Japanese, too. I don't know many K-pop bands because I'm not interested in the genre, but I remember Tohoshinki was really popular here and they did several songs in Japanese.

For all of Japan's prejudice against Koreans, there's definitely a sub-culture appreciation for their music and dramas.

Are they vampires?

Will be huge on the gay scene in another 10 or 20 years

You must care enough to know the difference. As for 'faceless', well, with the popularity of plastic surgery among Koreans you contradict yourself here.

Anyway, this is just another of the dime-a-dozen boy/girl group that's exported to Japan because their fellow Koreans wouldn't even know or care of their existence. Nothing new here, just trying to capitalize on the daydreaming, mostly obachan crowd and their pursestrings.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Sorry girls they are already taken..... With each other.

danalawton: "20 years from now many of the selfish truth's regarding these boy bands will come out and the joke will be on all the idiots that fell for their marketing."

Yeah, and yet the Backstreet Boys are still quite 'popular' at karaoke. Sex will never stop selling, but it seems there's been a change in what's considered sexy.

YuriOtani: "They sing in Korean, right? Most Japanese know less Korean than English. While they are cute, it takes more than that."

Sadly, it does not. Especially not in Japan. Imagine if AKB48 were Korean.

So according to some of the comments here if a man has a pretty hairless face he may be considered "gay"? Not "manly" enough? I beg to differ. You do not need muscles, beard and a clean cut to look like a man. That's what is considered "manly" in the West perhaps? But this is not the West, this is Japan and Japan is located in Asia. Keeping the hair a bit longer is quite common. Most J-guys like shaving. Nothing wrong with that. I'm very happy with my J-hubby the way he is and there is not a single thing I would change about him. Plus I've never seen him wearing my make-up lol, but the great majority of men (30's~40's) in here don't look "girlie" IMHO. Then again, these boys in the picture look very very young.

Word

These talentless pieces of crap shouldn't have the right to go anywhere near a microphone! I've see real musicians struggle to let the ends meet! Presence of pseudo singers like this is insulting to real talented hard working performers! I can't stomach this crap anymore! Finally, I would like to stress that there is a serious social hazard if crap like this has any kind of following. Humanity is degrading....

I think they meant for the caption to be Need a Boyfriend?, Well so do we.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

"Welcome aboard Boyfriend" It says there. My nose is stinging from the coffee that squirted out of it.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

thats the main problem with Japan & Korea, all these new age herbivorous men spending more time on themselves than the women, now wonder the birth rates are so low,

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Suppose it must be an acquired taste. Not understanding the language leaves me in a blissful peace. Well if the kids like it

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I live in Uruguay. It's a small country in South America and a lot of people here are totally into Kpop and this kind of boy bands. It amazes me really.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

They all look like they get their hair done at the Justin Beiber Barber Bazaar. (say THAT one three times fast!) XD

0 ( +1 / -1 )

No real variety of guys.. Who's the "bad boy"? Who's the "baby face"?

Well "DUH"! It's OBVIOUS the "bad boys" are wearing the V-neck t-shirts and the "good boys" are wearing the crew-neck t-shirts. The "pretty boys" have the jackets without the epauletes while the "less-than-pretty boys" need the epauletes to jazz them up a bit.

;-)

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Is that anemia or excessive foundation?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I have no problem with men leaving their hair a bit long, as long as it doesn't look longer that mine. I'm a fan of clean faces and they don't really need to be a "hulk" but the starving skinny look turns me off. I generally like medium built guys who care about personal hygiene. that's it.

That said, this is NOT the kind of picture I would like to see depicting Asian men in this website. I don't think the female posters in here are all high school students IMHO. I think whoever is in charge of uploading photos here should take a break and find something more mature and REAL than a bunch of teenage looking artists.

Next time REAL MEN please. TY.
