We're wearing masks so we're good. Japan is going to start "business as usual" again. This is too early to be doing this, and the false sense of security could come back and bite everyone in the beehind.

I've noticed with the nicer weather people are out and about as usual in my city too. Do people not realize there is a pandemic right now? Just because Japan's "official" numbers are low (wonder why? hmm) doesn't mean you can throw caution to the wind and go about willy nilly. I fear this is going to come back and bit them in the behind. But しょうがないね!

For weeks, young people and kids have been out and about because of this extended holiday! Refusing or making it difficult to test people is the primary reason for Japanese people's relaxed response. It is being explained as an old or sick person's virus. However, in some parts of the world, ICU stats show almost half of the infected are people under 60.

"Hear no evil, See no evil, Speak no evil" can be an excuse for willful ignorance like a cult!

Wilful ignorance and ignoring the facts won’t protect you. Even in countries which have a far more rigorous testing regime than Japan, the actual number of infections is recognised as being far greater than the identified cases, so there is no doubt but that there are many infected people circulating in the Japanese population and as there is no effort to encourage social distancing or self isolation as in other countries, this will cause a rapid spread of the disease leading to swamping the healthcare system. Just look at what happened to Italy.

Idiots.

Well done to them for getting out and enjoying themselves amidst all this fear mongering.

All the more reason not to test everyone with light symptoms for the virus. Save the medical care for the elderly and people hit hard by the virus.

I was thinking for a while about how people say they aren't testing or they are trying to keep the Olympics. Here's a better idea, they know what's up and it's a sham. There is no reason to crash the economy and have everyone scared about a virus I guarantee none of us will get and I also guarantee you won't know anyone else who gets it. If you do and they actually get sick I'd be happy to buy you dinner but it won't happen.
