River runs thru the middle of Meguro in tokyo. Fabulous place for hanami - packed and a lot of fun. Trees run all the way along it for km's. Of course it is more of a canal than a river, but that's Japan. worth a visit in the next few days.....
Hanami seems to have the image of groups of people taking up far too much space than they actually need with a huge blue sheet, food and drink flying everywhere while shouting at the tops of their voices to show how much they are "enjoying" the "flower viewing".
The picture shows that you can have a nice time without being an obnoxious drunk.
Most "rivers" in Tokyo ( and other big cities for that matter ) flow through the urban environment in concrete enclosures, controlled and artificial. But I have to say that this area is pleasant enough with the sakura and interesting shops/restaurants.
I think that dog would be making the V peace sign if he could!
Sign of the times in graying Japan. This is a more common sight than the wild hanami parties of years past
Dont you believe it! I saw a bunch of golden oldies rocking it up in the park last weekend, putting our little group to shame with their antics! They were great fun, swigging out of bottles of Moet. Way to go grandpa!

When I was a kid, Meguro was considered the "wrong side of the tracks"

the dog looked so happy to be out, even on leash.

The dog is saying: "I'm tired, I can't pull you guys anymore".
