Out in the park

If Japanese parks had more and better trees, people wouldn't need to bring tents. LOL. We spent yesterday afternoon in the park as well.

So funny watching those people trying to collapse and fold those tents again, There's a way to do them but most forget.

I have one of those tents, and I forget how to fold it every time!

Are they oxygen tents? Avoid crowds!

If you're spending a long time in the park with small kids, they're pretty useful. Littlest ones can have a nap out of the wind and direct sunlight while the big brothers and sisters carry on playing.

someone said there is shortage of trees in the park , yes, very true which means you and your family are going to get burned also there are so few benches and they are not shaded.

furthermore, where are the garbage cans? come on now, not having garbage cans does not equal to clean parks, people will find the way to get rid of their garbage.

can you use the tax payer money for something useful? more trees, fights dust and provide shade, more benches so we don't need to bring tents, few garbage cans would be nice.....

Who says there arent any kids in Japan these days? Plenty of little ones in that picture having a wonderful time in the sunshine!

@Disillusioned... yes, you are right! People should avoid crowds! It’s not so difficult to spend a few days indoors with your family members watching movies, playing board games or cards! The Government is trying hard to get this situation under control after dropping the ball big time by failing to do so but the general public don’t help either! Parks although relaxing can be hazardous because an infected person can cough or sneeze and the virus can easily spread by floating in the air! Furthermore, some people use trains to go to the parks and I saw ( from my house windows ) that many trains seemed super crowded last weekend! I mean if people can’t stay home then it’s no use closing the schools and working places ( offices / shops )! They’ll have only themselves to blame if they get infected by going to crowded places ( which is almost everywhere in Tokyo )!

Japan is a BIG country. There are plenty upon plenty of places that aren't crowded. The same attitude of following people and the media like sheep is the reason why masks and toilet paper are sold out. If you are going to deadbolt your house to avoid people, that is on you.

My maths isnt great but I think that means the odds of sharing a slide with an infected person are pretty low.

I agree that most could use more trees. But I think a bigger problem is what they do to the trees they do have. Maintenance work at parks in Japan seems to consist of little more than cutting the branches off of all the trees at regular intervals, so they end up offering almost no shade and looking pretty ugly.

Cutting the grass on the other hand seems to not be on the "to-do" checklist, so about 80% of the time the weeds and grass in parks are so tall the park is essentially useless.

So you've got parks that are just fields of weeds with no shade most of the time. Its very frustrating. Now is actually the only time of the year that you can use most parks, since the weeds haven't had a chance to grow yet and the lack of shade isn't a problem since its still cool.

It is 275 confirmed positive (according to the current data). The number of infected is unknown. The whole japanese population was not tested so calculating the odds out of it is quite strange, same can be said about calculating it out of the people actually tested as they were supposely more at risk.

So, nobody know the odd. Shinzo Abe seems to think they are sufficient enough to request all school to be closed, big event to be downsized&co, work practice to be adjusted, ...

Kiddo need to go out and spend their built up energy and are not so at risk so well ... as long as at risk people stay away. Who really thought that all children would really be confined in their home ?

I have one of those tents and have used it at the park with my family multiple times. Never once has the idea of using it as a protection against viruses come up. I think you're misunderstanding the reason people use them.
