Maybe something along the lines that between 1931-45 Japan was responsible for the deaths of 20,000,000 Chinese through a policy of 'burn all, kill all and loot all' and countless massacres in urban centres

And that Japan for decades has tried to whitewash these crimes to such an extent that most Japanese don't even think they ever happened.

Even worse the Chinese might start to get offended that some of the Japanese elites have started to openly come out and say that the good Japanese were the real and only victims of the Second World War.

It's hard to blame him for demonstrating, since he's just following (government) orders. I have a friend who teaches at a high school in Shanghai and she admitted to me that instructors at her institution are regularly ordered to serve up nationalistic fervor as a part of their extracurricular duties.
