Gaaaa!

I get sent one of those photos every year from friends abroad asking whether this really happens in Japan.

Is anyone in that picture actually happy? I don't see one person smiling ... but do see what appears to be a lot of frowns ...

just checked and that pool is actually 160 meters in length and 60 meters in width.

good point wipeout. It's a pretty deceiving photgraph. It looks like they are crammed into a length of about 10 meters, but it could be well over 50 meters.

@BS

considering how unsanitary Japanese pools are

I think pools in any country are unsanitary, not just Japan, that is why all pools are sanitized with (NOT Chlorine) but Trichloroisocyanuric acid.

considering how unsanitary Japanese pools are, I blame Japanese pools for the ear infection I currently have

Hope they doubled up on the chlorine!

filthy!!! makes me want to just run there and jump in - NOT!!! yuck

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Was there any space for the water?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Why on earth are they allowed to bring in those dumb inflatables in a pool that sized with no many people?

The swimming complex sells them.

There is actually a urine sensitive die you can put in pools that turns the water purple around a person urinating although, I fear this pool would just be one big purple pond. Brrrrrr!

2 ( +5 / -3 )

I wouldn't like to be a lifeguard here.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

My idea of hell. Why on earth are they allowed to bring in those dumb inflatables in a pool that sized with no many people? Lifeguard nightmare.

You can call in a standing pool - but it surely isn't a swimming pool.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Same swimming pool everywhere in Japan. Same type of swimming pool photo every summer.

@horserfella

It was only a joke.

@CrazyJoe - ah, yes. Upon reading your comment a second time, I'm surprised I didn't see the obvious joke. I stand corrected.

They love their inflatable toyz, weather it be the beach, or the pool.. I guess if everyone disgarded their inflatable friends there would be twice as much room in the pool.....

I can understand the need to beat the the heat but HOW is that safe?? One of those kids slips off their innertube and not a soul would see them go under -- certainly not a lifeguard (if there are any). Isn't there a capacity limit?

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Aaah Japan - the land of tranquility

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Crazy Joe- tickets eh? How would u go about identifying the source?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

How deep and big is that pool? That's got to be incredibly dangerous for any kids who happen to slip underwater. Do they have lifeguards or anything like that?

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

How incredibly dangerous!

And yeah absolutely filthy, I wud rather wade in with my frogs & medaka in the pond in my yard then that!

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Piddler's paradise! I reckon at least half if these 'sardines' will be at the doctor's next week with ear, nose and throat infections.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

This is filthy. I can just imagine the number of people relieving themselves in the pool. According to one survey, one in five people do it. They should start issuing tickets for people caught doing it.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

oh look people soup !

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Why would you do it?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Kind of reminds me of a petri dish.
