....yes, upon further reflection, I was right, my 5-year-old can draw better.

That's simply not true. There is no 5-year-old with the artistic skill it took to paint these. There is a reason why exclusive galleries have shown an interest in these paintings and not in your 5-year-old's. The artist painted in secret for at least 10 years of adult life. The pictures may look like they were smeared, but each fine line was carefully painted. It's not an easy task.

So far as aesthetics, that's up to each person to decide. It's one thing to say you don't like it, but it's simply ignorance to deny the skill involved.

Guess it is the same reason for people who think that they appreciate it feel the need to voice it.

Not really - it's not the same thing to say someone is beautiful as to tell say she's ugly. Not everybody appreciates the same things, but it's generally self-absorbed to pipe in by saying something that others appreciate is crap. Quite a few people, including museums and accomplished artists, believe these pictures are brilliant. And they are, especially when you learn how carefully they were created.

Rather than saying "my 5-year-old can draw better," maybe consider the possibility that these paintings have a quality you haven't discerned. Simply saying "I don't understand the appeal" is more accurate and less abrasive.

Otherwise, it's like those people at a comedy show where 100s are laughing saying, "That's not funny." (As opposed to "I don't find that funny.")

These are really stunning works. Don't know why those who can't appreciate it feel the need to voice it.

Not to denigrate the artworks, but that woman's outfit is hideous.

Art can free the mind from life’s constraints.

Bless you, wonderful people of Hong Kong. We wish to see you again some day.

Wishing all here freedom from oppression and a peace to settle across the world.

Art amongst Art. The perspective, setting, contrast of bright colors, all contribute to tell an interesting story of it’s own.
