From what I could see on TV, it was mainly elderly people attending the ceremony. I wonder if anyone under 20 is really interested in these ceremonies.

Peace is always beautiful and happy are the peace makers who love, respect and are kind to each other that they may grow with peace in mind.

I wonder if anybody under 20 knows the true meaning of this day. if you wake up one day, and only see new buildings, and flashy cars, you might not remember what 70 years ago meant. we owe it to them to tell them. and show a lot of respect for those 60 years old and older. they lived through that terrible day.

Hi Brainiac, I posted this link in the Nagasaki marks 70th anniversary of atomic bombing thread but can I draw you attention that Nagasaki held the "International Youth Peace Forum," where young people from 128 different countries and regions considered and discussed peace....The under 20 are there, they just don't sometimes shout loud enough to be heard.

What's the point in pointing out the obvious? Here in Japan on anniversaries of the death of someone, or memorials like this one dressing in formal funeral attire is a given.
