master
nice to see he dressed up for the occasion.

Those sweats probably cost way more than any salaryman's business suit.
Plus, everybody in the pic seems to be pretty casual. Probably because it's a million degrees with a billion percent humidity outside.

Yup, perfect example. He came in but the rest of us still can’t.
Did he get his Residency somehow?

WA4TKG, I think there are some restrictions regarding tourism (daily allowed numbers), but coming to Japan for business purposes (that includes actors, musicians, performers, etc.) is allowed. You just need a negative pcr test.

Who is he praying to? The universe? It doesn’t care about his film. Buddha? He’s at one with everything and has no sense of self or movies.
So what’s the point of Brad Pitt praying?
master
Let me get this straight.
You think wearing sweatpants in any even slightly formal event is fine if those sweatpants cost over a certain amount of $? That ok for a wedding ceremony then? Just bring the receipt?
Also, can you confirm for me what the gentleman sitting directly behind Pitt is wearing?
Looks like formal attire to me.

The people in the back are dressed casually. Two women are wearing tees and the ojiisan is wearing a white casual button up shirt. It's not a NBD. It's not a funeral...

WA4TKG
He’s praying to the Camera, nothing more
master
Are they wearing sweatpants? Do you think they'd even consider it?
(so many people have set the bar so low for themselves, they can't see the lost dignity any more)
master
It means he can. No adult should assume it means they should.

First time ever to see someone sitting in a chair praying in a temple.
Every temple and shrine I've been to, folks sat on the floor.

People still believe money equals style...

If you go for business as he did to promote his movie anyone can go. There is no double standard here.

I've paid my respects in dozens of temples in Japan, but never sitting on a chair.

We watched Bullet Train. This was by far the stupidest waste-of-time movie I’ve ever seen. Besides all the mayhem, the train, passengers and crew were completely out of character. I can suspend reality, but some things need to remain true to reality.
