Nice picture, Hanami is coming. I can almost make out the shapes of the "sarary-men" and "OL"s in a dis-shevelled and comatose state under those blossoms. I will be photographing this stuff in a couple weeks in Northern Honshu.
Wow! I want this as a jigsaw puzzle! Do you have it in high res, Mr. M? Anyone know a company that will convert photos to a proper 1000 (or more) piece puzzle?
Fabulous array of colours and textures, but it is the structure that really makes it. Noripinhead, I fully agree: classical chinese landscape painting. Perhaps the paler colored blossoms in front, help to add to that fore and background in equal detail effect. The random looking stairs just stringing in and out of the shot really pin it.
Take a country of boring people, show them a flower, watch how excited they get. Sure they are nice to look at but I don't see what all the big fuss is.

I agree with you, shugotokumaru, for all the reasons you gave. Wish we had ume in NZ (well, you can buy the trees wholesale, but you have to buy at least 10 and we haven't room for an orchard....)
I love how the different shades of pink blend and compliment their colors and create a harmony (or symphony) of soft colorful spring pink tapestry. I think such pictures should be accompanied by a beautiful melody. it is time JT offers pictures with a music link.

Thank you, Sk4ek. JT, is there a way to contact the photographer? (His name is unfortunately common - not easy to find via google.)

These folks will turn your favorite photo into a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle. It's up to you to negotiate with the photographer though, I'd imagine.

Does JapanToday now own the rights to this photo?

Wish I was there, then go up and down all those stairs five or ten times. Beautiful spring color will make hard work become joyful activity.Nice.

This picture makes me, pardon the pun, plum crazy.

It does look like some kind of classical Chinese landscape painting. Very Asian. Good job, Mr. MacDonald. I'm lovin' it!

Very beautiful, sorta pastel tone to it - picture is a keeper!

Very prerty! But, it doesn't change anything. Blooming season is just an excuse to get drunk in a park.

All these trees came from China, but so they would have something original, they decided to look at the flowers.

also the cedar in the foreground looks very nice too

Gorgeous blaze of spring color. As a step climber, the stairs look pretty nice, too.

Yeah, there are lots of things you don't see.

gorgeous! this is what we could called 'pic of the day'....:)

Plums smell better too. Okay bye.

ume > sakura
Blasphemy, I know, but the plums make me a lot happier, since by the time the cherries bloom it's warm. The plums bring me out of the winter funk.
nath
I counted four.... looks a bit crowded to me.
LoveUSA
PS but why so few people cmlimbing the stairs to view the plums?
LoveUSA
Extremely beautiful picture but my pictures taken there are more beautiful :)

Simply gorgeous!
