Forget about these stairs. Ina country like Japan, pedestrians are forced to wait until there are no cars in sight before they can use the pedestrian crossings with no traffic lights.

Yo! This has got to be the most jaw dropping image I've ever seen.

I really hate these kind of signals! From a distance you can only see the bright red stop signal, and it is only once you get closer that you can see the green turning arrow. We have tons of these kids of signals up here. Another is a bright red stop and a faint green arrow to go straight ahead. Why not just a big green light?
