This picture is a statement to all of those who have been complaining about 'real friends' and what not -- Wen Jiabao came here to survey the devastated areas and try to bring a minute amount of happiness to some (giving out toys or what have you). I don't see anything wrong with the timing either. Wen Jiabao visits Japan and suddenly he's everyone's best friend? Ridiculous. The Senkaku Islands belong to Japan, that's a common belief among the general population here, not just the right wing extremists. If China gets offended by free speech and the right to demonstrate, too bad. That's the reality of living in a democratic country.

@Smith Of course they're going to demonstrate when a top Chinese politician comes to Japan. And you know what? It happens all the time in other countries too. The Free Tibet crowd can always be relied upon to put in an appearance in plenty of other countries when China's top personnel make a visit. Is there a problem with THAT? I even remember the British government tried to ban a demonstration in London years ago when the Chinese top brass were visiting for trade talks or something similar, until they were shamed into settling for keeping the demonstrators far away and out of earshot.
