Poor the crabs.

Many restaurants, hotels, inns, etc. don't buy expensive crabs due to the state of emergency. Customers don't come anyway. They end up to sell them with lowest price at town supermarkets.

Though labeled as the "catch", these crabs have already been boiled. Matsuba gani are a silvery brown when you pull them out of the water. They are not red when they are alive.

Two weeks back we had fantastic fresh crab in Kanazawa. So not really sure these are the first to be taken out of the water.

And those are cooked. That is why they are red. Kohaku knows his crabs too.

Atlantic king crab legs are my favorite. good on sushi and awesome in hot melted butter with garlic.

The legs on these loos skinny. But I am sure they still taste nice.

When one speaks of flavors of the Sea of Japan, red snow crab is one of them. In Itoigawa-shi in Niigata prefecture, Marine Dream Nou is the place where soft-bodied and juicy red snow crab can be found.

Boiled crab is available from March to December, and except for January and February, you can taste this delicacy almost all year round.
