I hope they are able to save some lives.

This is not a nice job to have. There are reports of rescue workers having to amputate limbs to free trapped people. I hope these valiant people aren't too distraught over what they will see.

I had an image of a small number on the team. But, that's a BIG team.

For all it's worth coming from me, I wish them all the best and hope they are able to help in some way.

They all have the "look" of hard working, dedicate, trust worthy kind of people.

Good to know that this many more people will be helping.

Really appreciate the help that Japan and other countries are sending. Unfortunately, it's not looking good for finding further survivors, including the Japanese students.

God speed heroes of Japan.

Wow - awesome effort. Much appreciated!

You would never know they were there if you read some other foreign news that report that only there respective country team is helping plus the Australians.

Anyway those kind of arguments either way we always hear each time from some; but these helpers care little for that. Do your best and good luck.

As a Kiwi, I say screw the cynicism. Thanks Japan, I'm sure you'll be of great help down here!

My guess is that New Zealand will announce it and some point, and of course thank Japan. Anyway, the media is ALWAYS that way, and the Japanese media is certainly no exception (reporting first and foremost on its own athletes, etc.). It's quite natural.

This is one instance in which I'm quite proud of Japan, and hope they do their best. God speed, indeed.

Again, this is an area where Japan can apply its expertise, and given the likelihood of it happening soon here as well, can get some credit to ask for help later.

Thank you and good luck.

I thought they were sent to look for the Japanese students trapped in a building... If they're there to help the NZers then great!!!

Good to hear from you Zaichik! I hope you and the Mr. are well and safe. (No idea where in NZ you went to,...)

Yoroshiku onegaishimasu. Much appreciated. We need you, Otautahi is waiting with appreciation, the local rescue crews are going to be really tired when you arrive!

I wonder if this meeting could be held on a 747 while enroute? I know they need to coordinate their activities, etc.bBut, who is running the meeting and are they reading the same paper the guy in the front left is reading? Will the people leading the meeting be on the same plane?

Good Luck !!!! They need the training !!!! Tokyo is pretty lucky for not having a truly devastating earthquake ! ! ! ! Scary to think if tokyo was hit with a major earthquake.

Thank you. From a kiwi in Japan.

Japan and Korea are two quick-respond international aid teams to quake-hit zones. We hope seeing more Japanese aid programs in societal, economic, educational and agricultural programs in Asia.

The entire world prays for the good news that this team will be successful in rescuing all those trapped by this earthquake.
