Thanks for our older people we learn, not made the mistakes they did, and teach us their experiences to be success in life. but for some reason young generation don't care about them just themselves, is more important stay in touch with a mobile phone, Internet, tv, etc. rather stay one evening with their own family. Happy Day for Aged Day!

What is considered middle aged now, and what is considered elderly? People live so long...so am curious if anyone has the answer.

This is NOT a sarcastic question...At what age is one considered "aged" in Japan? I just want to know so I know when I get there?

@sensei At some places people 65 and older pay less for admission tickets. I've seen that posted quite often.

I want to hurry up and turn 60 so I can avail of the discounted movie ticket to watch alone if I so wish. Y1000 is a good price. I hope they don't change the age to 63 any time soon. I also am wondering - what age is so called "aged", and how about a "senior"...I'm wondering.

Hi, @Joshua Degreiff,

You know, I gotta call bunk on a lot of that...

Taro Aso is 75, Abe is 61. Former Prime Minister Hatoyama is 68. They're hardly examples to follow and their fathers were hardly examples to follow. Heck, that's just a small percentage to show that just because you're aged it doesn't mean you're wise. Old people continue to start wars and are just as racist or judgmental as the young if not more.

I mean, yeah, this generation has smart phones, etc to waste time on, but every generation has had their vices to waste time on. This generation isn't worse, it's probably par for the course. There were grotesque murders, wars, racial hatred throughout human history, over thousands of years.

No generation has ever learned from the past fully. We still fight, bicker, judge, love foolishly, enjoy drinking too much. Enough with the "This generation doesn't get it" talk. No generation has.

@Joshua Degreiff One could make the case that it's the aged who are selfish. When "older people" are demonstrating as older people it's for their rights, isn't it? Not for the future? Today's failed institutions were made by those who are aged now. Maybe they should apologize for the 60 hour work week? The young have their unique troubles. They might not have the security or opportunities that the aged had in their time (depending on what generation we're talking about).

Well, some senior discounts start at 50, but most start between 60 and 65. Also, this article is interesting regarding the issue of middle age:

What is considered middle aged now, and what is considered elderly?

Middle age is when the pop idols of your youth start to appear on the 'classic' radio stations.

Old age is when the political events of your youth are thought by the youth as "history"

The formula for determing old age is:

Ea = DNa(c) + 1

Ea = Elderly age DNa(c) = DARNAME's age (currently)
