Yep, big festival at Meiji shrine this weekend, but nothing in the news about the crowds that turned up for it. Meanwhile, down the road in Shibuya, lines of police and signs everywhere telling people to go home. One rule for the old, another for the young.

My house abuts a shrine which had been abandoned for years, so my father-in-law and I took care of the grounds. Then a new priest came, the shrine was reactivated, and I was suddenly no longer welcome. Shinto is an extremely racist religion.
