So now Japan has territorial disputes with all of its neighbours at an escalating level, the governments on all sides happy that rather than focusing on the economy, lack of resource, national debt, out of balance populations, nuclear disasters and various other problems the people have something to come together over.. being angry at the nations near by, who ironically enough are the most important economically.

As for closer to us, I would be a little cautious friends in my adopted home, Black Vans, Megaphones, some racist old men and even 1 millions blinks from captain foot in mouth isn't going to have power enough should Japan have trade embargo's and possibly even military action used against it, Japan may end up losing much more than some islands in the middle of no where.

Im not going to get into who "owns" what, however this current course of action isn't wise.

Feel sorry for the Toyota owners. I hope the insurance covers it so they'll buy the new model.

Daiyou are China's!! Aoi (Yu Aoi) belongs to the world!!

Looks like a Sunday outdoor party.

I think that the US wouldnt be too happy if they went to war with china or japan since they both have high trade between the US wouldnt look good at all. And protesting over a few measyly populated islands really dont see the fuss in it, cant they just spit the islands 50 50?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Wow, what a turn out. You didn't see such a turnout when the Chinese landed there last week. Those Chinese get quite nationalistic sometimes.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Mobilize party faithful. Let some plants indulge in vandalism to show how high feelings run.

Gosh, I've forgotten about Gu Kailai already.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Was it children's day in China? Because I see a lot of people acting like juveniles.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

poor brainwashed bunch of people

9 ( +12 / -3 )

Wow, what a turn out.

No doubt local government officials were checking attendance.

Nothing much happens in China without government consent and the whole world knows this. These actions mean that the world holds China in even more contempt than before.

As an aside (which may even be off-topic) but that bridge looks non too safe with all those people on it, it would make a nasty mess if it fell on those below.

Keep it mind Beijing is using Japan as a scapegoat for their failure. Internally and economically, China is falling apart.. Eventually everything will backfire against Beijing. Stay calm everyone in Japan.. Do not throw any more fire in oil. That's exactly what Beijing want Japanese to dom so that they can blame everything on you, Japan... Stay calm and continue negotiating.

YuriOtani, I don't think America will defend Japan's claim on disputed territory.

If someone attacked a populated Japanese area, yes Im sure they would provide a peace keeping force and defend undisputed Japanese borders but no more, though I think they made it pretty clear with their comments recently that have no interest in getting involved with these or any other small island disputes.

Besides which, are you really talking about in 2012 going to war with Japan's most important trading and economic partners, it just doesn't make sense.

I do wonder however, if there is such as system, if the resident American forces have notched up their operational preparedness levels a few steps.

What do you expect to a communist country?

Japan is really resentful and Japan has lost all her influences to wthe world! Tahts why the people depising japan!

It appears on the above picture that Japan has plenty of influence.

And China's growing population, they need new lands or resources for their people, that is why they claiming lands with out concrete proof. Bullying other country. Don't be shock if they claim the earth. lolz!

Not sure what China is complaining about since the islands are officially owned by Japan since 1971 after they were given to them by the U.S.!! fact*

2 ( +6 / -4 )

I read and hear secondhand of more and more western expats leaving China. Scenes like this explain why.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Maybe this is a good start to re-evaluate Japanese business investment in China.

Do not put a dozen eggs in one basket for risk avoiding strategy.. Be aware that If you drop the basket filled with eggs, all eggs will be broken. I just want to remind you again, Japan.

7 years ago China horrified the world with their anti-Japan demonstrations and the entire world woke up to the "peaceful rise" lie. Since then China has been regarded with suspicion both economically and strategically. Today China is considere the biggest threat by all of her Asian neighbors. One would have thought that the CCP government had learned a lesson then. Obviously not. I'm not complaining though because it increases nationalism in Japan and advances the US-Japan military alliance even further. Remarkably and unusually short sighted of the Chinese leaders.

Government sanctioned childish behaviour... There are many more important things in life to worry about...

I think the governments are using the tiny island dispute to divert attention away from their failings elsewhere...

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Now demonstrate about your lack of freedoms, the control over your lives, the absence of accountability in your society; give THAT a shot. Government backed nationalism is a poor play for change.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

China should attack and conquer Japan now....Remember that dialog from Matrix? Stop trying to hit me and hit me!!

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

The leaders of all these countries really need to keep these all these nationalistic demonstrations in check. Rein them in and act like leaders, because things could get a whole lot worse. Guess nobody learned a thing from the Olympics-peace and unity among nations.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Where would China be without all this foreign direct investment in the country? back to the stone age..

3 ( +5 / -2 )

I am happy to see that large crowd. I wish the commoners in Japan had that much nationalism in them. Those of you who are against these nationalistic demonstrations, you need to realize, it shows the love for their country. And that is lacking in Japan. May be she needs to be burned down to the ground to reborn to her past glory.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

The radicals on both sides are showing their ignorance in full force. Chinese land on islands, Japanese land on islands, Chinese demonstrates in masses, Japanese deomstrates in masses.... any similarities in culture? We're all people, suffering from the same delusion of territorial boundrys... I wonder if birds have that problem?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Ignorance? What makes you say the actions are ignorant....Their is a dispute about the land...both claims it...their is no solution...people get angry at both side...Chinese are braking Japanese products, cars in China, what are we doing? We are still piling up all Chinese and Korean products....that just shows that we are so consumed in consumerism, that we don't have the love of our nation.

There is no "civil" solution to this. It is a land, and disputed. It is either theirs or ours....that's that.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

I hope Chinese and Korean would express their hatred toward and talk about attacking Japan. That would be only way Japanese people come to realize that the dysfunctional current Constitution should be changed.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Also I wouldn't be concerned about Toyota, Nissan of Japanese companies. They are multinational companies and can move their base elsewhere in the other parts of the world. Japanese government should focus more on domestic economies anyway.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

i wouldn't want to visit that protest. Looks like a staged college protest.

Ossan, I could not agree with you more on this. Defense Secretary Panetta has already expressed his concern about Chinese aggressive move in Asia.

I mostly see young , unemployed people on the picture, Ok JP politicians you rattle the Ant hill,

now, please do not ask the question , WWJD ?

China should attack and conquer Japan now....Remember that dialog from Matrix? Stop trying to hit me and hit me!!

I don't think China will attack any Asian country with land conflicts, we know China is a bullying country. They want to test if any Asian country will engage to their childish act.

So much negativity and hate coming from so many people of different nationalities. Are people mindful how many different nationalities live in these countries. We are all guests of our chosen county,if we decide we don't want to reside in our own countries for whatever reason,we all have to learn to live side by side in our country of choice. If those sort of anti protest marches started in Japan against all foreigners , I for one would be worried not only for me, but for my children at school.

You think America will let little Japan blow up the entire Asia region for Japan's own selfish greed? Those islands belong to China. And the northern Islands belong to Russia. Japan started the war and lost it. That's the price you pay for being an aggressor. Can't accept that? Of course not. Not Japan. I hear the ministers from China, Russia and Korea will soon meet to discuss what they're going to do with this troublemaker. Don't Japanese want end of diplomatic relations with the three countries? Good ideal, Japan may get what they want after all.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

I would be more worried about that bridge than anything...

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

There's nothing they can do. They're helpless. Japan controls the islands. Like Russia with the Kuril islands, possession is 9/10ths of the law.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

.

I hear the ministers from China, Russia and Korea will soon meet to discuss what they're going to do with this troublemaker

Wishful thinking. Let's leave the insignificant Korea out of this, shall we? I mean, what is this? Circa Joseon Dynasty era?

I think August should be banned in Asia.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Greedy China, you like to play dirty. RESPECT your neighbors!.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

This is getting crazy! Governments suck. The Kuriharas should sell one island to each party lol And then donate the last one as a nature preserve.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

So many people with not much to do on Sunday! Sad!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Reads like common sense gives way (again) to blind patriotism?

This is a total joke. Study the people in this crowd. 95-percent of them are under the age of 40. They're just out there looking for a free lunch, just like any other good socialist-run government would offer. They're probably angry because they couldn't find the bathroom, or there was a shortage of noodles.

In any case, none of these people will be affected whether they have the island or not. The island is basically a symbol of WWII. Their parents and their grandparents told them only one side of the issue, and probably told them never to forgive the infidels. These people don't even know why they're angry! They're just brought up this way. That's the joke of this photo - just another demonstration of socialism.

@meandmybigmouth

Whether you like it or not, we are all earthlings. When backward and narrow minded countries (and beliefs) realize this, global peace might just have a chance...

If people want to be patriotic, I suggest we all feel proud about being an earthling and support our planet. Until then, we will not evolve as a species...

what do the banners say? it is our Oil, oops i mean islands :p

The United States won't be of any help. Obama is anti-colonialism. Any issue regarding colonialism - he's against. he's with Argentina regarding the Falkland Islands. He agrees with the Hawaiians that the U.S. illegally obtained Hawaii. And, he believes the United States itself is built on colonialism, which is why he wants to destroy it. Anything regarding China - he's pro-Mao, so he'll definitely side with the Chinese on this issue.

Tokyokawasaki, we really need an alien invasion now to get everyone on the one side.

You think America will let little Japan blow up the entire Asia region for Japan's own selfish greed?

The ones doing the blowing up are China and little Korea.

Those islands belong to China.

Then let China make a claim at the ICJ. They won't because they habe so many other disputes that it wold set a disadvantageous precedent. In the case of South Koprea though, they are just cowards.

And the northern Islands belong to Russia. Japan started the war and lost it.

The United States, United Kingdom amnd theEuropean Parliamenmt consider these islands Japanese territory under occupation by Russia. Because the Soviets took them AFTER Japan surrendered in WWII.

That's the price you pay for being an aggressor. Can't accept that? Of course not. Not Japan. I hear the ministers from >China, Russia and Korea will soon meet to discuss what they're going to do with this troublemaker. Don't Japanese want >end of diplomatic relations with the three countries? Good ideal, Japan may get what they want after all.

Don't kid yourself. China and Russia couldn't care less about an insignificant countyr like south korea.

Still waiting for you to post your evidence that the 1965 South Korea-Japan Treaty states that "Japan won't bring up the Takeshikma issue with the ICJ". I guess you can't post it because you made it up.

Actually I worried that the pedestrian walkway might collapse, A lot of folk standing on it and building codes being what they are in the part of the World.....Sichuan...
